YES, IT'S FINALLY HAPPENED: Hand Hell launched their album 'Phonography' at The Tote in Melbourne on Saturday October 6th. It was a huge gig and the CDs sold like hotcakes! To recap the Hand Hell story: When their drummer quit in late 2005, Melbourne songwriters Kirsty Stegwazi and Rene Schaefer disbanded their old band The Bites. They wrote a set of new songs and reconvened as HAND HELL. Hand Hell's music reflects the duo's fierce indie aesthetic and love of noisy guitars and heavy pop tones. Hand Hell recorded their album 'Phonography' in 2006 with the amazing Jen from Go Genre Everything on drums. Hand Hell then found a permanent drummer in NZ ex-pat Ricky French. Check out the band he plays guitar and sings in, Actor/Model. All 4 songs featured here are from 'Phonography'. If the CD isn't available in your part of the world (which is pretty damn likely) drop us a line and we're happy to send you one. Hooray for DIY!
thanks for last night it was tops... you have rather fine audio equipment and those TONES you were getting last night! I hope you don't get fired anymore.
Last October, Hotel Wrecking City Traders got word of their mates Electric Jellyfish's tragedy whilst on tour in the US. That night they dedicated their set at the East Brunswick Club to the band for their loss. The show was committed to film by the prople at Two Tap TV and is now being released on DVD.
There will be a public screening of the film TOMORROW NIGHT (12/6/08):
