M looked at Bond levelly with grey-blue eyes. ‘We want you to go to Australia, 007. There’s a recording studio there that’s been attracting our attention. It’s run by a…Peter Doherty.’
‘You want me to kill this Doherty, sir?’ Bond asked eagerly.
‘No Bond. We want you to pose as a musician and record there. Sniff about. Get a sense of what this Doherty fellow does.’
‘Record what, sir?’ Bond stared at M in bafflement, his bewilderment reinforced by a stray lick of hair that seemed to trace a question mark on his forehead.
‘You can record anything you like. A waltz, a rumba. Something Glenn Milleresque.’
‘Goose.’ Bond raised his hand and stroked his chiselled jaw line. A slight sneer of disapproval played on his cruel but sensuous mouth. ‘I must be frank, sir. It doesn’t sound like a high-profile operation.’
‘Doherty’s been achieving some results that would suggest otherwise. Big studio sound for a fraction of the cost. The Texans suspect Bin Laden might be behind it. The big studios and record companies are feeling decidedly uneasy.’
‘Very good sir.’ Said Bond, unconvinced. ‘I’m still not sure about what I’m doing or why I’m doing it.’
‘Excellent Bond. You’re already beginning to sound like a musician. Don’t worry. From what we understand, Doherty will do the thinking for you - if that’s necessary. All you need is the most half-baked song or idea and he’ll polish it into a virtual Moon River. Henry Mancini, you know.’
‘But what if I don’t want Moon River?’
‘Then something more modern. I understand those Beatle chappies have caused quite a stir of late.’
‘But what about the sex and violence, sir?’
‘I’m afraid Goose is not that sort of studio Bond. But there may be other establishments in the vicinity. Out of work hours, of course.’
‘Of course sir. On balance I’m glad I don’t have to kill Doherty, sir. He strikes me as a decent sort of chap who may have fallen in with the wrong crowd.’
‘Decency doesn’t come into it, Bond. You don’t get results like Doherty gets by behaving decently. We know he’s an evil genius. What we need to know is how he does it. Having established that, your brief is to raze Goose to the ground.’
‘My recording sir. I was thinking of perhaps calling it From Russia With Love.’
M shook his head despairingly. ‘Talk it over with Doherty. I understand he’s full of ideas about how to make a silk purse out of the proverbial sow’s ear. What you have at the moment, Bond, is a sow’s ear.’

I hear you've been gallivanting about the countryside flaunting your massive lexicon! Why I remember a time when it was but a mere soupcon of etymologia...or were we just mentally addled for some reason?
Here are a few helpfull and little known facts about Pete Doherty..s background:He has two brothers,Paul the guitar player and Dom the drummer(both the younger). I 1993 these two brothers heartlessly left Pete sitting in Sydney all on his wittle wonesome and went trapsing off to Germany to form a band. Not just any band but the band that came to be known as Germanings Father. And what a band it was. Not a note was played without contra bandaid, not a string or drumstick was broken without a bloodshot pause being taken before replacing it.And the succsess.Fame, fortune, chics, rave reviews, endorsments all elluded them but the bass player did fall off the stage one night so that was kinda cool. They did ,however manage to record one album in their time together. So if you feel any sort of empathy, love or gratitude towards Pete, look left and come check it out. He will be eternally gratefull.Dom.

Pete - you utter bastard! We got to the studio last night and the gate was locked! We had to pass our amps over the fence - attracting the interest of the police. Well, more than their interest. Michael ('the Beast') Caloudis insisted on urinating on their trousers....and we're now facing charges for sedition and possible deportation!
This is a boon to our career, of course - and we tank you. In a weird, Brian Jones sort of way.
