About me: ....
Welcome to the MySpace presence of GoLeft.org
The goal of GoLeft is to build an online community where progressive activists can gather, share information, and take action together. At GoLeft.org, you'll find news posts on events that matter to progressive-minded people, info on happenings in popular culture that relate to the kinds of issues we need to be tackling every day, profiles of member activists, a calendar of listings for upcoming events, and videos spotlighting nonprofits working on areas including HIV/AIDS, Environmental Justice, Reproductive Rights, Anti-Violence, Anti-War, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights, and Racial and Economic Justice.
We want to do something different here. GoLeft is not just a site for individuals to aimlessly list their activities. We’re a community. A community of activists. A community of progressive-minded media junkies. A community of people who understand the web as a portal to in-person actions. We think about this virtual site as a gateway to building our real-world activities.
We are working to make sure the progressive work going on out there is reaching as wide an audience as possible.
GoLeft is the place that marries the things we like to talk about (popular culture) with the things we need to talk about (advocacy). GoLeft is also an ideal place to spotlight activists who aren’t receiving the media coverage they deserve. There is a great deal of progressive work currently being done around the country that can serve as inspirational models for people nationwide to advance or ignite their own activism.
Check out our website at www.GoLeft.org ...today and every day!

From one friend of "Voices of a People's History" to another — Thanks for adding me. ¶ People hear only what they want, so facts alone won't wake them; they need inspiration too. ¶ This world's evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — in market, government, & elsewhere — believe we're all separate, motivated only by self-interest, greed, fear. They want us to share that belief. They use it to justify themselves, to keep us apart, to shape the world's political & economic systems, perpetuating war & poverty. Their power comes not so much from cabals as from incessant propaganda that we hardly notice, implicit in the background assumptions of television & newspapers. ¶ But you & I have found a better light inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. Theists and atheists alike, let us sing of our brotherhood. Peace and communication are one subject, not two, and no one can know that subject perfectly until we all do. ¶ The outcome of the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be just a spectator. Join the movement, if you haven't already: get involved in whatever way feels right for you. We must all learn from one another; each of us knows only part of the song. Question authority. Keep fighting, loving, hoping, singing. Hand in hand, we may still be able to heal this world. ¶ The flag of the USA, once a symbol of democracy & freedom, has now come to stand for plutocracy, consumerism, imperialism. Small flags are being sold in grocery stores, in anticipation of July 4. I'll wear mine upside down. ¶ Peace, love, hope, revolution. More details on my web page. — Eric

Support this bill... even if you are from out of state... help us win it for California, and watch the movement spread. California can lead the way for America with TRUE Universal Health Coverage---not phony schemes that use public funding for private insurance companies to continue business as usual. Only SINGLE PAYER can cut costs and improve quality of care. And only a huge public outcry will make it happen.
For all those in California who are reading this, we especially need your help. This is a true grassroots effort, folks! Sign up now to be a part of the solution!
Thanks for the add GoLeft!!! Great to have your progressive here in MySpace.
With soooo many adds lately it is hard to keep up. Forgive me if this is a repeat, but I wanted to thank you for your add AND mention something about which I am most passionate!!
Achieving the Millennium Development Goal of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger is attainable!!
Please take four minutes and listen to Enough For Everyone, one of the five songs on my profile. When Enough For Everyone is available for download and my new CD, All That Matters is released in July 2007 I will make a donation to the Presbyterian Hunger Program for every song download and CD purchased.

"The only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you are alive, and die only when you are dead. To love, to be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of the life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget." - Arundhati Roy
