THE INAUGURAL RAINBOW LIST HAS BEEN POSTED!!
From the Rainbow List introduction:
"On the fortieth anniversary of the Kinsey report telling the world that glbtrq people are not alone in their feelings or experience, 25 years since the publication of the controversial Annie on My Mind, and almost 20 years after Daddy’s Roommate and Heather Has Two Mommies, the Rainbow Project proudly presents its inaugural bibliography, a bibliography of current books for young readers from birth through age 18 dealing with the myriad of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or questioning issues."
Please go to http://blogs.ala.org/glbtrt.php for the full list and for further details!
The Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgendered Round Table [GLBTRT] is a unit of the American Library Association [ALA]. The GLBTRT was founded in 1970 as the Task Force on Gay Liberation. We are the nation's first gay, lesbian & bisexual professional organization.
Each year, we present the Stonewall Book Awards (one for literature [Barbara Gittings], one for nonfiction [Israel Fishman]) to the best books with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered themes.
Our group often presents programs at ALA's annual conference. Recent topics have included the future of gay books for children, collection development, and the mainstreaming of gay publishing. Please join us at our Mid-winter and Annual meetings for our Social gathering, and meet GLBT librarians and allies.
We publish a quarterly online newsletter including book reviews of recent GLBT titles.
