About the founder of Girlie-Q Live!:
Miss Bea Haven aka Jeanne Theresa Newman is a Chicago-based burlesque and performance artist. She has performed her comedic dance performance with nearly every burlesque outfit in town, including Michelle L'Amour's Star and Garter, Red Hot Dames, Varietease Cabaret, and the Sissy Butch Brothers' Gurlesque Burlesque. She has been working in the medium for six years and shows no signs of stopping shakin' it anytime soon. She is the founding producer/director of the Girlie-Q Variety Hour and Dyke Mic, a poetry and music event. Her work has been seen all over the country as she is the best damned diletante she can be.
About the producers of Girlie-Q Live!:
Stacy Jill Jacobs, is a Writer, WebChick Extraordinaire, and Event Producer. Stacy Jill supported the Los Angeles Queer community for many years by working in various film and community events including hosting the popular L Word viewing party in West Hollywood. She moved back to the Chicago area just in time for Gay Games VII and served as the Ticketing Manager for the momentous event. Stacy also hosts her online radio show, Sassy Pants Radio ever Monday night at Blog Talk Radio.com
Nikki Patin has been writing and performing for close to 22 years. She has taught dozens of workshops at various high schools, colleges and universities on performance poetry, body image, sexual assault prevention and LGBT issues. A veteran of the Chicago poetry scene, Nikki was featured on the fourth season of HBO's Def Poetry Jam and designed, published and distributed a book of poems on body image, entitled "Phat Girl". Nikki earned her stage stripes by cutting her teeth on six bands and performing at such well-known venues like the Hothouse, the Arie Crown Theatre and CBGB. Nikki's opened for Jill Scott at the Metro, Patricia Smith and Alix Olson at the Congress Theatre and Zapp!, of Roger and Zapp, at the Chicago Blues Museum. In 2004, Nikki was voted one of Chicago's six most fabulous 20-somethings by Red Eye newspaper. Last fall, Nikki wrote, produced and directed her first one-woman show, "Off Inside My Head." In 2006, Nikki was voted one of the 30 under 30 most influential LGBTQ people in Chicago by Windy City Times and took the gold medal in the Gay Games International LGBT poetry slam.
