Michael's music has garnered widespread recognition and universal appeal as evidenced by his Multi-Platinum certification by the RIAA and has been recorded in genres ranging from pop to country, alternative rock to classical crossover and can be heard on many television soundtracks, including the Julia Louis-Dreyfus sit-com "Old Christine," "Dawson's Creek," "Jack & Jill," "As The World Turns" and "The Guiding Light."
DANIEL LEANSE (lead vocalist) spent his formative years in West Los Angeles. In 1998, Leanse landed the job as Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Micah in Brentwood, Tennessee. Leanse has attended numerous Jewish Music workshops to hone his craft, including the Hava Nashira OSRUI and Mifgash Musicale at HUC in Cincinnati. In 2002, after having led the music at Congregation Micah for four years, Leanse decided it was time to head back to the West Coast and was hired by Congregation Beth Am in Paolo Alto, California to be their Cantorial Soloist. GESHER is the Hebrew word for bridge. It is also the name of a new duo whose music is beginning to take root in Jewish communities around the world...from New York to Los Angeles to Paris. By setting the Shabbat texts to new and original melodies and sterling production, Gesher is progressive and innovative while remaining true to its Jewish identity and tradition.
The project was written and produced by multi-platinum selling composer Michael Hunter Ochs and features lead vocals by nationally recognized Cantorial Soloist, Daniel Leanse. Accompanied by an all-star band including keyboardist Matt Rollings (James Taylor, Dixie Chicks, Lyle Lovett) and violinist Jonathan Yudkin (Shania Twain, Big and Rich), and guest artists such as Alana Grace and Joshua Nelson, Gesher has been described as "more than song, it is the spirit of the Jewish people." Whatever your personal beliefs or faith, may this collection of songs lift your spirits, enrich your prayers and in some small way, bring us all closer together.
