Introducing Jermel Coleman- better known as “MOUSE”, hailing from New York City’s greatest borough, Brooklyn. After spending years in Federal Prison for gun, and drug possession, MOUSE’S primary focus has shifted from rapper to becoming an established writer. From the beginning, MOUSE had a vision, a vision to be well respected in the publishing world, and now he’s ready to step forth to be dubbed the “Street Interpreter”. Creating well crafted stories from personal experiences and expressing them through fictional stories come easy; like writing a rhyme, “I like my characters to relate to an everyday street dude”. Reading the literary works of authors such as Aaron, Quan, Nikki Turner, Vikkie Stringer, Terry Woods , and Sister Souljah only hungered his appetite to expose the world to his stories. A hustler at heart, MOUSE understood his environment at a young age; coming from a house with a father who struggled with and lost a battle with drug addiction, and watching how hard it was for his mother to raise him and his brother MAINO, it was only a matter of time before the streets became a huge part of his world. Running the streets, and learning the code provided MOUSE the experience of an American hustler where he was forced to adapt to many different situations. Situations that eventually led him out of state to set up shop in a small town where he became a street role model for all who wanted to learn his ways.
Now in 2007, fresh out the box, MOUSE is ready to prove to other authors that he is in his zone; ready for the critics who try to denounce his focus and his abilities. Partnering up with MAINO to create Hustle Hard Publishing, and producing Gangsta’s Don’t Die is the first step towards MOUSE realizing his publishing goals. Finally, relatable stories for the real people will be released to the world, and the only judge can only be the everyday man, “I took my morals and my principals and incorporated that into the characters of this book; It’s almost a too real life look into what goes on in the street, and at the same time it’s fiction, it’s enjoyable, but I definitely took what I feel, or what I believe, or what I would’ve done in some of these situations and created this book”.
The publishing world is not ready for what this young man has in store, the realness will captivate your attention, the honesty will appeal to the masses, and the pain will touch your soul in more ways than one. One thing is for sure MOUSE, President of Hustle Hard Publishing is ready to bring all his stories to life, proving that the “it” gene truly does run in the family.
