Which is the best ghost investigation group for you?
With the advent of so many "ghost hunter" TV shows lately, a lot of ghosthunting groups have been forming. While this is good in many cases, some ghosthunters have less than your best interests at heart. The following checklist may help you decide who might be the best choice for your investigation.
Do they charge a fee? Some ghosthunting groups think that they can make money doing this. A reputable group will charge nothing. NEVER EVER PAY A DEPOSIT OR FEE. FVSH charges NOTHING.
Ask them their qualifications and/or experience. It is all right to ask for references too (if prior clients have given permission to be contacted). FVSH has a mix of new and experienced investigators. We also call upon experienced and knowledgable consultants when we feel we need more information.
An reputable group will not foist their particular religious beliefs upon you. If you wish to ask them if they have a particular religious point of view, please feel free to do so. If you do not agree with it, keep looking.
No one can guarantee removing an "entity" from your home. Do not pay for this service. There are people out there who will charge you up to thousands of dollars to exorcise your home but there are no guarantees that it will work.
Does the group you contact use psychics or mediums as primary investigation tools? If you do not believe in psychics or ESP, do not use this group. You will be wasting both your time and theirs. FVSH uses a mix of technical tools, research and interviews to conduct investigations. We may occasionally bring along validated sensitives as an adjunct to an investigation, not as a primary investigation tool.
Do they use seances or ouija boards to "contact the dead"? Ouija and seances may be valid means of communication for some but it is very difficult to prove it is anything but a shared delusion or a prankster in the group.
Do they trespass on private property in order to conduct investigations? This shows a lack of good judgement and concern for private property. This is not a group with your best interests at heart.
Do they think it's funny to desecrate cemeteries? Jumping into open gravesites and taking a photo of yourself isn't exactly mature behavior. Do you want these people in your home?

desanctified church, 8/2005.

GHOSTS!"
Hi, I'm Katie K. and I'm an investigator with Fox Valley Spirit Hunters. I am also the webmistress so a lot of what you see here will be from me and not from the group as a whole.
We are a group of ghost investigators based in and around the Fox River Valley between Oshkosh and Appleton (Wisconsin) who are interested in proving the existence or non-existence of ghosts. Coming from all walks of life, we bring a variety of experience and knowledge to each investigation.
FVSH uses a mix of investigation techniques. We utilize technical equipment such as camcorders, EMF readers and voice recorders, sometimes combined with intuitive impressions. We also conduct interviews with witnesses and research the history and background of a site reputed to be haunted.
We work closely with our clients to preserve confidentiality and trust. There are no fees for investigations. We are willing to travel up to two hours from our home area of Appleton/Neenah/Oshkosh, farther for cases of exceptional interest.
What we do NOT do:
We do NOT charge any fees for investigations.
We do NOT come dressed outlandishly or call attention to ourselves upon arrival
We do NOT tell you your house is haunted when we can make no such determination.
We do NOT consider your investigation to be our "entertainment". We are serious investigators who conduct ourselves in a professional, friendly manner.
We do NOT consider ourselves "TV stars" videotaping ourselves on your investigation to post on our website. If we have video of interest we would like to share publicly, we get your prior written permission.
We maintain your confidentiality and do NOT release any information about your investigation without prior written permission from you.
The following will be accepted as friends provided their site has significant ghost-related content (except personal friends, you know who you are):
1) Ghost investigators,
2) Personal friends and
3) Wisconsin people.
It's not that I'm being picky, but I think having thousands of "friends" whom I could not POSSIBLY know defeats the purpose of the "friends" list.
