Rising from the ashes of renowned local bands Loudspeaker Paradox & Explicit Content, SHAOLIN quickly became one of the most talked about young bands on the Redditch live music scene. After the departure of Becky, the band thought a new name was in order, They decided on THE FOUNDATION STATE.
Driven by the immense power of some of the most hum-able riffs you could hope to come across and frontman Drew Millward's earnest and sincere lyrics, THE FOUNDATION STATE possesses a sound reminiscent of Nirvana at their peak.
Cutting their teeth supporting the likes of KEIKO and FALLEN GROUND over the Winter of 2004/5, their confidence and reputation earned them headline shows in their home town and also in Birmingham.
2005/06 was a contemplative year working on new tracks and another change of bassist - Watson (ex-Aurora), Now in '08 Drew, Ross & Watson are back with fresh sounds, and reworked originals. After the sucess of the Womb With A View E.P, The Foundation State have been working closely with Dave at The Brook recording their new E.P- Obssession or Addiction continuing the bands original sound with a new dimension and depth. Four of the six tracks have been uploaded for your listening pleasure.
