Fort Wayne Derby Girls were admitted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) in January 2007
About Fort Wayne Derby Girls: Fall Brawl Sept. 20th
Our History:
We are Fort Wayne’s only and Indiana’s first all-female, flat track roller derby league. Our season runs from April through October. We hold our home bouts at The PLEX, located at 1807 East California Road. Visit The PLEX’s website for directions: www.plexsports.com.
With the resurgence of roller derby across the country, our goal was to create Indiana’s first all-female roller derby league. In October 2005, Danielle Abbott (Little D.Evil) and Tonya Vojtkofsky (Minx) founded our league, and it has since grown from 5 skaters to 40.
We held our first public bout at Roller Dome South in May 2006 to a sold out crowd of 1,200. Our first full season consisted of 4 bouts between two exhibition teams in 2006. In January 2007, our all-star team, the Bomb Squad, made its debut against the Gem City Rollergirls from Dayton, OH. Since then, the Bomb Squad has played the Naptown Rollergirls, The Windy City Rollers, The Chi-Town Sirens, Grand Raggidy Rollergirls, Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, The Chicago Outfit, Grand Raggidy’s Rebelles and the Mitten Kittens.
In early 2007, we made a move to the PLEX and held 5 out of 6 of our 2007 home bouts there. We also formed three home teams: Alpha Dollz, Little Arsenic Annies and The Smokin’ Guns.
In November 2007, we hosted an 8-team regional roller derby tournament at the War Memorial Coliseum.
Mission Statement:
The FW Derby Girls encourages community involvement from all socio-economic groups in Fort Wayne and its surrounding communities. The league embodies the strength, courage, and vitality of Fort Wayne women but also serves to provide another form of semi-professional athletic entertainment to the Summit City.
FWDG is currently scheduling its 2009 interleague schedule. We are willing to come to your hometown to get down and derby with you, or we can host you here- we still have a few dates open! If your league is interested in playing our travel team, please send us a message!

CHARITY CONTRIBUTIONS:
FWDGs are proud to donate to charities that benefit local women and children. We’ve donated over $30,000 since May 2006 to local organizations including: LifeLine, Crossroad, Great Lakes Burn Camp, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse & Neglect), Charis House, Big Brothers Big Sisters, FOP’s Forgotton Family Program, The Sexual Assault Treatment Center, Turnstone, Hoosier Burn Camp, Fort Wayne Women's Bureau and more!
If you are a local charity benefiting women and/or children and are interested in receiving funds or volunteer work from FWDG- download our charity application here.
WANNA BE A FORT WAYNE DERBY GIRL?
You just missed the first round of try outs for 2008. If you are interested, send us a message and we will put you on the list.
BE A VOLUNTEER and help us out. Sponsorships, fundraising and event ticket sales will be the primary financial means of this DIY league. If you would like to take part of any of this, please visit our website and contact us at: fwderbygirls@yahoo.com
Hey, I sent a letter of interest to Angelicious, AND to the FB2 yahoo email.
Please make sure I get put on the list to receive updates. I would really like to ref this year, so I hope that there is a spot for me, even if it is just tracking.
