Circa 1993...Weston, Rich and Sean all worked together at Taylor Guitars in Santee and eventually El Cajon. They befriended each other and began knocking out some tunes in Westons bedroom in his Parents house. Rich knew Johnny who said he could sing yet that took some years to actually prove itself. Through an extra amplifier Johnny added some lyrics from his older brother Bob's journal and "Dolphin Net" was born and so was "7 mary 3". That extra amplifier ended up being the only P.A. the band ever owned. It provided for an interesting hard edge to the vocals although they grew from this project to be quite focused and their legend still lives in the small circle familiar with anyone in the band around.
The beginning and end almost silmultaneously transpired as far as the public was concerned. Although we moved the jam space to the shed on Sean's rented property in Alpine and created a setlist that was second to none because it was extremely enigmatic. Unlike anything anyone has or ever will hear or play. From Chicken, P.G., Spaltter Brain, and Robot Monkey Guy to Me and Jesus, Velet Elvis, and Punk Rock (Best Friends)Girlfriend. They sparked a combustion unique to a perfect expression of the for of them as people and musicians at the time. Their first published show was their swan song. As they were anticipating their entry to the limelight on the stage that so many of their heros had stood upon and rocked, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Rocket from the Crypt, Morphine, Heavy Vegetable, Drive Like Jehu, Creedle, Smashing Pumpkins, a man approched them and said, "unfortunately I have some friends out in South Carolina and they have a trademark on the 7mary3 band name and are about to release and album on Mammoth Records, one of Atlantic Records independant labels." That night initiated the end to Their 7mary3. Devistation due to inner bickerings and loss of newly appreciated identity as a band through finally having a band name that everyone was happy with. They band split. Although still stayed friends and bandmates with different encarnations of new projects formerly 7mary3 would never play again.
