"The atmosphere of sanitariums is such that it cannot fail to exercise the most debilitating, the most pernicious influence upon those it shelters, and this in the very direction their initial debilitaion has led them; further complicated by the fact that any demand, any protest, any movement of resistance merely raises charges of insociability (for, however paradoxically, even in this realm one must be sociable), serves only to charge you with a new symptom, by its nature not only prevents your cure but even keeps your state from remaining stable and rapidly deteriorates it instead. Hence those tragically swift evolutions we can follow in the sanitariums and which, quite often, are not those of illness alone."
--from 'Nadja', by Andre' Breton, 1928 -- Transl. Richard Howard

About Fognode - LAST FOGNODE RECORD COMING OUT SOON
I NOW HAVE A PRIVATE PERSONAL PAGE NOW THAT IS SEPARATE FROM MY MUSIC PAGE. IF YOU ARE AN ACTUAL FRIEND O MINE... THEN GO HERE AND ADD ME: www.myspace.com/briansiskind
"It has an immediate-to me-seductive quality," "I want to listen to what's going to happen." Brian Eno
"Do you remember the day when albums functioned as an artistic expression? Front to back, each track stood on its own, yet when sequenced together they painted a compelling picture. Well, then consider Fognode's latest effort "Thin Faces" a masterpiece. Siskind makes music from the heart, his way, without contrive. Not worried about the latest, coolest and hippest he just simply and eloquently made a thing of beauty." Bob Green / The Grassy Knoll
"fantastic ambience..."
Pat Mastelotto - King Crimson
I make music under the name Fognode... my other name is Brian Siskind. I got the name from a friend during a project we were working on where an alias was required. A Brooklyn dub thing... Anyway... a joke that stuck.
I work on lots of different styles and projects, from the avant-garde and noise to singer/songwriter works. I play drums mainly, but also dabble in pedal and lap steel guitars, lots of processing and looping, and other misc. instruments. Lately I have been mostly producing.
I am not the best person for every project, but could be right for yours. So yeah... I like music that is flawed, broken, murky, and I prefer to use techniques that are simple and take as little effort as possible. I guess I am slack.
I just finished a really beautiful and noisy fun record for Clare Burson, and have in the past year or so made recordings for Oblio, Daniel Tashian (The Bees), Let's Say Baltimore, The Bubblegum Complex, collaborated on a film score for "Rodeo Girl", and other oddities and happenings.
Please put me down for a signed copy of your new CD!
'Across the Pond' is amazing and 'The Sound in My Head' is a masterpiece - like some sublime peal of bells. IMHO, this is your best stuff since Beat Hollow.
