musical tones based on the equal tempered tuning system arranged to reflect a bit of jazz, funk, and some pop rock, and a bit of scientifically fictional biology.
Flying Fox & the Hunter/Gatherers have been trolling the Winnipeg music scene since 2005. In three years they have grown from a compulsive instrument-swapping jam band to a cohesive six-piece unit of (take a deep breath) classically trained musicians playing jazz-influenced folk-rock with pop sensibilities. They have been compared to Hawksley Workman, Calexico, Weather Report, Beirut, and the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack.
Flying Fox shows are high energy and bring crowds to their feet. With music ranging from sing-along pop songs to adventurous funk-influenced compositions in odd time signatures, they appeal to both the sophisticated musician and less scrutinizing dancer. As one recent show attendee put it, Flying Fox "has this unique, enticing sound that unexpectedly pulsates throughout the room with all its exuberance."
At the helm of Flying Fox and the Hunter Gatherers’ sound is Jesse Krause (House of Doc), whose enchanting song writing, vocals and guitar work lead the musical way. Bucky Driedger's no-nonsense approach to hitting the drums serves well his passion for good, listenable music. Lindsey Collins' precise and spirited bass playing is arguably the glue that holds all things together. Darren Grunau tickles the black and white synthetic polymer with joyful ingenuity. Add the punch and beauty of brass blowers Paul Schmidt (trombone) and Steve T. Kay (trumpet) to the foray, and you've got a band that doesn’t fit in a mini-van.

.. Hi there Flying Fox and the Hunter/Gatherers first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people you can click the link below to visit our profile which wlil provide you with more information and also give you the link to our website! I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.
Alright seriously now, does Paul have a pet alpaca? I've been raving about them lately, I want one so bad! As it also turns out, you guys would be sound-matched by a band that includes a llama? Amazing! That's all.
Flyng Fox... That's right, Flyng Fox, not Flying Fox... Thanks for playing at Mennofolk last night. Two of my friends from tree-planting said that you guys need to record a CD. Because they'd buy it. That's right. You would have sold (at least) two CDs last night.
