Flop became a band by accident in the winter of 1990. Drunkenly stitched together out of remnants of Chemistry Set and Pure Joy, Flop was simply an excuse to get together, smoke pot, drink beer and egg cops. Once money got tight and we couldn't afford eggs, we stole instruments from our friends in more famous bands and entertained ourselves by playing songs at terrifying volume levels. Caught in the whirlwind that was the Seattle music scene of the early nineties, Flop managed to put out some records and play some shows. Those were heady times, my friends.
If you have any photos of Flop, send them our way. We were far too inebriated to have had the good sense to document our adventure. I'll dig up some publicity stuff and add it, but your help is needed. Thanks!
Oh yeah. if you were/are a fan of Flop, you may be interested in LLAMA.
unnecessary tidbit of info : 'whenever you're ready' has been in my car for about six months straight. my black boyfriend, who is strictly into 70s and r&b, is caught harmonizing to your songs all of the time.
I had both an "I Hate Flop" and an "I love Flop" shirt from that time you guys played in Austin at Emo's. Truly fucking brilliant. I still run into my ex-girlfriend from the time wearing the "I hate Flop" one - she insists it's hers even though we started dating after that gig and she had never heard of you before I played one of your records while we were cleaning up about 1000 beer cans from the night before. I wish she would have stolen her fucking cat when she left but, no, I was stuck with the fucking thing 'til it choked out its last furball. Things are still really tense between us - I couldn't give a shit about the cat, but I want my fucking shirt back.
Get back together and come play in Austin. Please. It's a ghost town.
Hey I'm not tryin to be a groupie and shit, but I really dig your band I saw you guys on the Hype video, and I've been watchin your segment over and over. You cats, The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies and The Toilet Boys are awesome
Flop! My friend Cody won "whenever you're ready" at the carnival in like '01, and then found it in his house around '04 and stuck it in my cd player. Then we invented the flop pit. I figured since you guys ARE Flop you should know about the flop pit. It's where everyone is sleeping at a party around 5 AM and you stick "whenever you're ready" in the cd player and blast the song "a fixed point" on repeat. Then you scream "Flop Pit" and jump on people until they either leave or punch you in the balls.
