FlashCube crafts high energy, groove-oriented Rock with an attitude. Melding influences as diverse as the Smashing Pumpkins, Butch Walker, and David Bowie into their material, this quartet out of Philly displays a command of songwriting and arrangements. The band writes music that is bursting with powerful melodies, fat 3-part harmonies and loud, crunchy guitars. We want to write songs that you just cant stop from humming in your head, states Joe OBoyle. Bannon retorts Yeah, we just want to be known as great song-writers.
When Joe OBoyle (vocals and guitar) and Mark Bannon (lead guitar and vocals) began writing material for Flashcube, they never imagined the music would transform the way it did. After writing a collection of over 30 songs and rehearsing the material for many months to prepare to record, their drummer and bass player decided to pursue other opportunities. Bannon and OBoyle immediately set out to look for a new rhythm section. They found Ralph Hernandez (bass) and Bill Roldan (drums) and coined them their Latin bad asses. The results of the new rhythm section were astonishing. Their talent catapulted the songs into a new direction and the band wound up writing a dozen new pieces of material for the record. The winds of change blew once again with the arrival of Flashcube's newest member, John Herrity on the bass guitar. John's rock solid grooves complete the high quality sound Flashcube fans know so well.
Their debut self-titled CD drops featuring 3 songs produced by David Ivory (The Roots, Silvertide) and recorded at the legendary Sigma Sound in Philadelphia. FlashCube also set their sights on production and produced the remainder of the album at Goldfinger Studio in Dublin, PA. Joe OBoyles use of wordplay covers such diverse topics as love gone awry to preachers who steal money. The CD is full of pop gems, catchy hooks and kicks it into high gear from the start with All About U, a look at the self-centered, arrogant individual. The Monkees-ish sound of You Lied, radio-friendly Holiday and tongue in cheek Kick Em award something for everyone.
Flashcube contiues to build their fanbase playing a variety of shows in Bucks County, Philly, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Come Enjoy the show!!
