At the 2005 & 2006 Dallas Observer Music Awards the band won the award for Best Folk Acoustic act and received a nomination for Best Female Vocalist (Camille Cortinas) three years in a row.
2006 has seen the release of the bands first full length album "Scattered Among the Archipelago", recorded b Chris Machart at Purple Pear Studios and mixed by Derek Taylor. The album looks at the marriage of inspiration, and art and how the two can change a person's life.
"We are Like Water" is featured in the film "Float", winner at the SoCal Independent Film Festival, and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
In 2007 Camille Cortinas hosted a documentary celebrating music and art in Dallas Texas. Fishing for Comets was featured in the documentary and their music provided the soundtrack.
2008 the band performed "Lies" live on television talk show "The Gordon Keith Show" which can be seen to the left.

"Bouncy, beautiful, and acoustically driven, Fishing For Comets is a worthwhile effort and listen".-Jake Nuckolls, cdreviews.com
"What's wrong with a little happiness? Nothing—at least according to Fishing for Comets, with their sweet, unapologetic melodies, acousto-jangle and occasional accordion forays. When singer Camile Cortinas sings, "It's just so cute/Watching the waitress/Get swept off her feet" in her happy-go-lucky voice, you don't mind a bit. With pop this coy and catchy, you can throw away your Zoloft".Jonanna Widner- Dallas Observer
"Although super-positive girlie pop usually makes us want to run and hide, it's not hard to like Dallas band Fishing for Comets. Camille Cortinas is one of few people who can pull off hap-hap-happy lyrics. Why? Because we believe her".-Hunter Hauk- Quick Magazine
"The sweet, melodic sounds of Fishing For Comets could be therapy for the sad, or medicine for the downhearted. If the good vibes emitting from this acoustic-rock group could be bottled, it would surely be the cure for something".- Wayne Ansell, Harder Beat
"This band is sheer excellence, so bookem, buy their music, go seeem live Youll thank me in the morning".-Cindy Chaffin, The Fine Line
"Listening to Fishing for Comets, youll wonder where these songs have been your entire life".-Michael Ramirez, freelance writer/ Flagpole Magazine Athens, GA
