Once upon a time, there was a small island named manhattan... Born and raised in nyc, very lucky to have studied with and been around some very talented people, including pianist Dick Hyman, guitarist Howard Morgan, vocal coach Thurman Bailey, etc. Also studied literature at columbia with my mentor, the late Edward Said...My parents were left-wing intellectuals who knew people in the comedy, jazz and folk music circuits, so i am lucky to be part of that strange nyc background. I have a beautiful son and wife (is it legal to be married on myspace?)...I play and played with The Jones and Firehorse, on my own and sat in with numerous bands back in the late great days of Wetlands, Nightingales, and all the revival energy that seems like both so long ago and just yesterday...
