Filmspotting dorks unite and let me tell you what the best movies of last year were!
I finally made my list (couldn't do it with out seeing Into The Wild).
And I know I'm 2 weeks behind, but on the top 5 breaking the fourth wall list, how coul you leave off the George Clooney classic Return Of The Killer Tomatoes??? When the production has to shut down because they run out of money and George responds, "well, how about product placement!". The scene worked so well, that Penelope Spheeris and Co. stole it a couple years later for their crappy little film Waynes World.
THANKS SO MUCH for accepting our friend request. Always love networking with other artists!!! Come check out the trailer for our feature film NOIR currently in Post. It's SO FUN! wishing you continued creativity and inspiration :)
Hi. Just a little note to let you and your friends know that, after rave reviews, 'Guca' the film is out on DVD. To buy, visit Guca's myspace site and click on the 'Buy DVD' poster. Alternatively go directly to www.oart.co.uk/store
I'm finally on a computer with sound, and got to listen to a couple shows. Great job, you guys!
If you decide to do a Top 5 list of Movies About Children That Will Rip Your Heart Out Through Your Throat, there's another Japanese contender that belongs on a list with "Grave of the Fireflies." Did you ever see "Nobody Knows?" It's a live action film based on a modern true story that scandalized Japan. It too is almost unbearable, but you'll keep watching because you care about the kids so much.
This is a repost for a friend to any aspiring filmmakers who you may be friends with:
YOURTUBE MONDAYS...A OPEN CALL TO FILMMAKERS
Hey everybody, I know it was a bit last minute this week, but we kicked off YourTube this past Monday and it was a bit quiet.
Yeah, I know it was Monday night and there was a new Heroes on TV and there's NBA and NHL playoffs going on, but ... where else can you go to show your movies, videos, etc., on an 8 foot HD screen? Or, for that matter, where can you go to see these indie films and videos in such a manner? In the Detroit area, Gracie's Underground is the only place doing it.
We're planning some big things and hope to make this a great weekly event. We are going to have weekly giveaways of free movie passes and other movie swag, so come on out.
Also ... I need submissions. We have some great ideas, but we need YOU to participate and help make it great. So, any and all filmmakers, please contact me and submit those videos. And don't be shy ... if you made something, bring it and we'll screen it.
Also ... out of state filmmakers are more than welcome to send me things. I would love to show your work. And if you wanted to make a road trip to screen something, we'd love to have you, but you don't have to be present to have it screened.
Gracie's Underground is located on the Southwest corner of 9 mile and Woodward in Ferndale, MI.
Hi,
I just thought you would like to know that you can now download Cliff Dreamers for FREE for the next month as a promotion to get readers for the next 3 books in the stone age fantasy series of books I have written. It is on the fiction heading under Fantasy. Let me know what you think!
Best
Jacqui
Wanted to say hi, Happy Easter and let you know that my Film School by Phone series continues with part 3 (Pre-Production) on April 17th at 7:00pm PDT
Part 3 of my 8 part series I will be talking about shooting your own film (short, indy or trailer). This series will cover all aspects, including the pitfalls (an extreme importance) of pre-productiion, production workflow, post production including DVD authoring and marketing your film (including the internet). This call will focus on a successful pre-production. Did I mention that this class is free.
We are new to MySpace and you are one of our first batch of friends. We are an independent Canadian film production company based out of Toronto.
We are always looking to connect with like minded artists, production companies, (for international co-productions) distributers and interesting people-- especially those who have a similar creative vision.
Please everyone add us as friends and we will keep you posted of productions, screenings, awards and news.
oh to win masacre theater would be glorious! I just watched 300 so the words glory, sparta!, and honor have been coming out of my mouth way too often in the last thirty mins.
Been a big fan of Filmspotting for a while now. I like to hear you guys argue . . . I mean discuss movies and as I come from the UK I get to hear about some earlier than I would normally.
