"Eu posso dizer que meu projeto solo começou no dia em que eu comprei minha primeira gaita. Era algo entre agosto e setembro de 2005 e eu nunca havia nem encostado em uma antes.
Eu nunca tive muita familiaridade com o violão e à maneira que se tira o som dele, mas eu já estava ao redor da música country e folk por um tempo até então. Assim as descobertas vieram aos poucos: o dedilhado, a gaita, as harmonias. Nunca essas coisas tiveram pra mim tanta importância.
Na época, o Tri-Lambda estava no meio da gravação do primeiro cd e eu havia acabado de me juntar ao Besta-Fera e feito as primeiras apresentações.
Não demorou para as experimentações em uma mesa de 8 canais começarem. Eu lembro de ter feito quase 10 músicas em pouco mais de 2 semanas. Era algo muito novo e qualquer coisa que eu fizesse era inédito. Qualquer riff, qualquer solo, qualquer sopro era uma música. Eu sentava, gravava a base da música, escrevia a letra, gravava a voz e fechava o dia. Depois voltava pra música e gravava tudo e qualquer coisa que tivesse por perto. Mais próximo de outubro eu gravei duas músicas para o cd do Tri-Lambda nesse esquema: Hate List e um cover do Replacements, Skyway. Gravei na noite anterior ao dia da mixagem do disco e foi como estava, despreparado e seco.
Passou muito tempo, até o começo de 2006, para eu retomar a gravações daquelas músicas feitas em um ímpeto só. Regravei algumas, joguei fora outras e gravei algumas novas. Daí saiu a minha demo. Foram 8 músicas, contando 2 covers, um Carter Family e uma música tradicional americana. Cada música apontou para uma direção diferente, cada estilo e levada me veio à cabeça nessa época e eu não soube como lidar de forma uniforme e coerente de uma música para a outra, mas quando eu decidi finalmente liberá-las foi mais pelo registro das músicas.
No fim de dezembro eu fiz minha primeira apresentação solo. Nervoso demais. Alguns amigos estavam presentes, toquei as músicas da demo e alguma música do Gram Parsons e do Hank Williams.
Logo em seguida eu achei que estava preparado para fazer um disco solo e fui em um fim de semana para Monte Verde tentar fazer algo que pudesse apontar o caminho a ser seguido.
Essa produção continuou por quase dois anos até elas serem realmente ensaiadas de uma forma definitiva.
Voltando ao começo de 2006, eu fiz alguns shows junto com o Poniboy AKA Rafael Crespo, que eu já conhecia do Polara e tocara alguma porção de vezes juntos. Logo em seguida eu entrei na posição de baixista do B.U.S.H., que era uma das minhas bandas nacionais preferidas.
Se seguiram uma porção de shows, alguns infiltrados em shows de hardcore e outros em predominantemente acusticos junto com o Rafael.
Desde então, o B.U.S.H. gravou uma porção de coisa, um split 7" com a banda sueca Bruce Banner, que eu fiz o trampo de produção junt com o guitarrista Pedro Carvalho, o primeiro disco New American Century, duas músicas para a coletânea itinerante e o EP 12" São Paulo para a turnê européia. Em agosto de 2007 embarcamos para Frankfurt para começar a turnê de 33 shows em 36 dias.
Eu tive o prazer de apresentar as músicas da demo e algumas músicas novas em Paris. No mesmo show tocaram o B.U.S.H. e o Red Dons.
De volta para São Paulo, eu fui sufocado por deveres universitários e entregas de trabalhos, e finalmente formado pude respirar apenas no fim daquele ano.
Começo de 2008 é da onde eu escrevo. Agora em Fevereiro, há alguns dias átras, eu fiz uma apresentação em conjunto com o Poniboy, tocamos as músicas dos outros. Aquelas músicas e melodias circulando no fundo da mente desde a primeira de 2006, começam a tomar a forma. A mim se juntou o Renatha(Besta-Fera), Rafael e Mancha (agora no grupo folk indie Aspen). O objetivo não é tão simples quanto parece: condensar quase dois anos de influências e evolução em um disco de estréia coerente. É daqui que eu continuo agora. É sempre uma incognita quando eu escrevo um release e chego ao fim falando sobre os planos futuros, muita coisa não acontece mas muita coisa acontece também, sem previsão e muito mais não da forma prevista."

I say that my solo work started the day that I bought my first harmonica. It was something between august and september 2005 and I have never played neither touched it before.
I never was that familiar to the acoustic guitar and how it is supposed to be played, but I was around country and folk music for a while then. So I was guessing how everything was made: the picking, the harmonica and the harmonies. Never before this things had that importance for me.
At the time, Lambda Lambda Lambda was on the midst of the recording of our first album and I have just joined Besta-Fera and did the first gigs.
It didn't took long for the 8 channel portastudio experimentations start. I remember doing almost 10 songs in a couple of weeks. It was all new and anything was something to be tryied. Every riff, every solo, every breath was a song. I just sat, recorded the lead, wrote the lyrics, recorded some vocals and wrapped up the day. Later I would return to the song and recorded everything that was near me. Next to October I recorded two songs for the Lambda record on this way: Hate List and Replacements cover, Skyway. I recorded on the night before the mixing day and it was included just the way it was, unprepared and raw.
It took a while, until the beggining of 2006, to restart the recordings of these songs. Redone a few, threw out another few and record a couple of new ones. That's where my demo came from. It was finally 8 songs, with 2 cover songs: a Carter Family and a traditional. Each song pointed out to a different direction. Every mood and genre came to at that time and I couldn't handle with all that on a uniform and coherent way. I finally release the demo, more as a register than anything else.
Back in December of 2005 I made my first way too nervous solo gig. There were a few friends there. I played the songs from the demo and a couple of covers from Gram Parsons and Hank Williams.
Soon after, I started thinking about making a full-length so I went to Monte Verde(a small town a couple of hours from São Paulo) to try something that could point me a direction.
This production went on for almost two years until the reheasals started to get a definite(more or less) form.
Back to early 2006 I made a few gigs with Poniboy AKA Rafael Crespo, who I already knew from Polara and divided the bill with them a lot of times. It was soon after that I joined one of my favorites bands, B.U.S.H., to substitute their bass player.
Some gigs followed, a few on hardcore show and other predominantly acoustic with Rafael.
Since then, B.U.S.H. recorded a bunch of material: a 7" EP split with the swedish band Bruce Banner, which I co-produced with the guitar player Pedro Carvalho, the first full-length New American Century, two songs for a compilation of the Itinerante magazine and the São Paulo 12" EP for our european tour. We made our way to Frankfurt on August 2007 to start our 33 gigs on 36 day european tour.
I received the kind invitation to play in Paris a few of mine songs, including brand new ones. I shared the bill with B.U.S.H. and Red Dons from Portland.
Back to São Paulo, I got flooded by college work and presentations, and got a chance to breath only at the end of the year.
Now is February 2008. Just a few days before today I made a gig with Poniboy playing each other songs. Those songs circulating on the back of my mind since 2006 started to take form. Now with me I have the benefit of working together with Renatha(Besta-Fera), Rafael Poniboy(Polara and Aspen) and Mancha(from the freak-folk group Aspen). The objective is not that simple: put together almost two year of influences and evolution in a coeherent record. That's were I take from now.
