a MySpace Genre Page by Lee FitzSimmons 
- A highly accurate description of my creative exploits would be that of a Composer/Producer/Multi-Instrumentalist who specializes in multi-genre music creation. My paradigm of aesthetic sound design and sonic architechture has always pushed the envelope of the collective creative muse, because of my vehement refusal to be locked down with both the societal and self-imposed creative restrictions that typically ensnare the artistic musings of those who dread to gaze upon the wondrous spectrum of infinite creative energy.
When I was eighteen, Berklee College of Music in Boston awarded me a $5,000 scholarship for saxophone performance. At Berklee, I tested out of the first three semesters of ear training and music theory, and my studies included music performance, compostion, and production. After this, my musical abilities were further enhanced at the University of North Texas.
One might describe me as a versatile multi-instrumentalist who not only plays keyboard, guitar, saxophone, flute, and bass; but who is also highly experienced with sequencer programming and digital recording technology. My creative passions include playing with many different types of bands from reggae to country to rock, as well as composing, directing, and producing music for countless projects.
With the new advances in technology and music distribution, new modes of presenting an artist's creative exploits can now be developed and presented to humanity's creative collective consciousness. One of these many new modes is the MySpace genre page, which features the recording artist presenting one or more pieces related by style and genre.
When music distribution was limited by outdated technological methods, severe creative restrictions were placed on recording artists in order to distribute content effectively while still producing revenue. One of these restrictions was limiting artists to one specific genre for marketing and promotional purposes, so physical product (i.e. CD's, albums, cassette tapes, etc.) could be more effectively distributed. Another restriction was limiting the artist to a small number of creative works - usually 8 to 12. In addition, one or more singles were chosen for hyperpromotion and deliberately overexposed in numerous media outlets using payola and other mass marketing techniques.
With new distribution technology now available in the twenty-first century, a recording artist does not need to be limited to such a small number of new artistic creations and is free to create at will, producing as many works in as many styles or genres that she/he deems fit.
