Explicit… a fusion of five different styles of music… five members each with their different predilection… rock, alternative, classic, old school, blues… Originating in Malta, the heart of the Mediterranean, Explicit strives to pursue its roots in rock music.
Explicit go all-out to reach this objective using their muse as a platform of inspiration in their music; a means of conveying their message of their experiences – whether personal or instigated by the world around them - such a concept being accompanied by their unique tune. In other words, the music and their lyrics deal with sad or happy moments in every day life – although they recount a particular moment in the life of a band member, they can very easily be related-to by various members of today’s society.
The band started in June/July 2003, when Mario (…guitarist with defunct band, Attic), guitarist, Marco and bassist, Charlie (previously band mates) first got together to hit a few experimental chords. This experience led them to consider forming a full band initially by auditioning a drummer. August 2003 and Andrew enters the scene…
Having seen that the band had reached the desired consistency and tightness it was then time to enroll a vocalist. Since then the band moved from one vocalist to the next - and through several auditions and sad farewells - we finally welcomed, Stephanie, hence giving way to the first ever full rehearsal, in the first week of October 2005.
After nearly two years with this formation, Andrew the drummer had to leave the band due to other commitments. After playing with a session drummer during Notte Bianca (6th October) and auditioned various drummers finally the band welcomed Mario Dalli on drums who previously played with Charles and Marco in another band before EXPLICIT.
Subculture shall be officially launching their 4th CD REVOLT on 20th September at Remedy, PV. Besides during the same night, we shall also be officilly and publicly introducing Ramona, our new vocalist, who shall be singing with us not more than a 22 track play list including cover versions.

Before the year 2007 comes to an end, Subculture together with bandmates Abstass joined forces for a Punk Rock Party namely “Power To The People”. Gig shall be held tomorrow, Friday 14th December at Remedy, Paceville. There will be new tracks played by both Abstrass and Subculture and for sure we would like to have your company in this “Power To The People” Party. So leave tomorrow free, spread out the word and join us together with your friends.
On Friday 5th October a free entrance pre party for this event is being held at Elements Rock Club Paceville. All band members will be present to have a beer and talk with everyone there.Doom metal shall be played for the whole evening So be there for another Doom metal assault.
A reminder to join us and Abstrass next Friday, 31st August at Remedy. This will be Woody Aki’s last gig with Subculture, since he’s leaving Malta, so help us with your presence for a farewell to Woody, the launch of Subculture New CD “Resist The Abuse” + Abstrass who shall be hittin’ the stage too!! Besides you’ll give a warm welcome to ---- ?? the new Bass Player.
