There should be some clever way around this, where it starts like, "Everybell influences..." and then a list of the things that we have influenced, but really, we probably haven't influenced much.
We are influenced by things, I guess, but it most likely wouldn't be very fun to read a list of all that stuff here.
I guess this is the part where we could just make a list of other bands, so people can go "Oh man, I know about that band!" or "Urgh, I just listened to the mp3s, and there is no way that this sounds like [whatever band we might have listed]."
Sometimes I kinda wish we were a Best Friends Forever cover band, only you know, kinda mathy or whatever. Or maybe like those songs that kids sing when they're jump-roping. That always seems to work out well.
Sounds Like
It sounds a lot like the mp3s that are up in the corner over there. Only better. We're much better than that. Tighter, more pop hooks, fancy overdubs, all that stuff.
We've been told that we sound like a bunch of bands none of us have ever heard, which is interesting for some reason.
Right now we are hiding in our practice space writing and recording new songs for three upcoming releases:
1) a 12" vinyl record to be released in the Summer on Hardisty Disk 2) a 7" vinyl record featuring us on one side and the amazing Wildcat Revival on the other side, to be released in April (fingers crossed) by the people of Say & Stay Said 3) a compilation for South by Southwest called Minnesota Migration, consisting of really amazing local twin cities bands. After that stuff is done, we will be playing a bunch of shows around town and then going on a tour to the East Coast at the end of July.
Old News:
If bands start when they play their first show, or do anything in front of other people, then Everybell and Whistle started in May 2003, by playing a show at the Minneapolis College of Art + Design as part of a very expensive graphic design project/senior exhibition/record release/graduation party/tiny record label kick-off. Best Friends Forever and Signal to Trust helped us bring the rock to the student center. We released two seven-inch records that day, and someone stole all of the shirts that we had made, but it was ok for some reason.
Anyway, that summer we played some shows in houses and other places, and then the following winter, we began a new routine of breaking bones/taking trips/being in other bands/world traveling/etc. that has pretty much meant that up until right now, we've either been "on hiatus" or whatever, or relearning songs with the hopes of writing new ones, or doing stuff like sometimes playing shows or recording.
In December of 2004, we went to our friend Nate's loft in Chicago and recorded a seven-song cd called "Everybody Wrestle." We released it ourselves on the Say and Stay Said tiny record label that we started.
After that, everybody left for Europe or South America or Terrorclops or the East Coast and then eventually, we all came back. Now we're going to be in a rock band again.

Hey guys! Thanks for finding me on myspace. I enjoy your cd alot, i've listened like.... 5 or 6 times already. Really good stuff, I'm glad to know there stuff like this coming out of Mpls and MN! I'll try to catch your show tomorrow, if I can find a way there and back from so st paul. Last weekend at the show(s) in Minneapolis, things turned toward disaster drunkenly trying to find our way home late at night with no money. We ended up in downtown MPLS and got kicked out of every cab that would attempt to pick us up. We rule. Anyways, where's the show at tomorrow? Big V's?
