| Eve Goodman: General Info
| Member Since | 4/2/2006 | | Band Website | evegoodman.com | | Band Members | mostly just me but sometimes John Caldwell joins me on guitar and harmonies | | Influences | Joan Armatrading, Paul Simon, John Prine, Patty Griffin, Erika Luckett, Del Rey and Steve James, Ernie Hawkins, Chris Smither, Bonnie Raitt, Brandon Marsalis, Joan Baez (who's why I started singing and playing at all), Phil Ochs, ABBA (yes deep down I want to be the original Dancing Queen), John Kander and Fred Ebb...whoever is in my cd player this week (which happens to be a number of things...Heather Kropf, Mary Flowers, Steff Mahan to name a few...) | | Sounds Like | hmmm, well depending on what songs people have heard they've described me as Joni Mitchell or Mary Chapin Carpenter, which is funny to me because neither of them were big influences of mine - not that I'd turn the channel if they came on the station - Joan Armatrading, Paul Simon and John Prine are the three biggies that were always on my turntable when I was growing up...yes I'm dating myself, but there you go...the past few years I've been obsessed with the acoustic blues, listening (and stealing!) a lot from the likes of Steve James and Del Rey and Ernie Hawkins and Chris Smither and Mary Flowers (who in turn got their stuff from Memphis Minnie and Big Bill Broonzy and Blind Willie McTell and Skip James and the list goes on and on) basically my songs are a grab bag - I'm a writer/singer without a genre but whatever pigeon hole you want to try to fit me into, I hope you enjoy it...

| About Eve Goodman |
By day I'm a mild mannered Program Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and by night I'm a crazed acoustic singer/songwriter breathing fire at local coffeehouses. The dangers of too much caffeine. I grew up in Boston and was indoctrinated in the New England folk scene corrupted by the likes of Cheryl Wheeler, Jesse Winchester and Catie Curtis. I moved to Nashville and was further set on the road to ruin by Gillian Welch, Lynn Biddick and Kami Lyle. Craving a change and a city with a little more grit I moved to Pittsburgh and vowed never to perform in public again, but now I'm working on my third recording and have even started playing out of state...go figure. So whatever happens I just want to enjoy myself. I've got some samples of past recordings and some "works in progress" that will be on my third CD (which if all goes well will be ready this year...sometime). Hope you enjoy them...
