Evasive Species was formed the summer of 2007. Presented to SLM as a channel of something new, the collective of inspired musicians/artists has fully evolved together to form it's amazing, new and unique sound. Incorporationg the traditional elements of Ki Ho'alu or Slack Key guitar, Hawaiian language, Urban Hip Hop, Classical and ambient groove, Evasive Species is the newest sound to come out of Hawaii, let alone anywhere on our Mother Earth. Evasive easily falls into world representation with it's memebers hometown's spanning the globe. Stephen Inglis was born and raised in Palolo Valley. Navid, born in Iran and raised in NY, until moving to hawaii years ago. Kalae Miles, born in Waimanalo and an international talent. Shawn, raised in Haleiwa and lived in SF, NY and Boston over the past 14 years before returning home. Jon Hawes, born in england, raised as a teenager in New England and currently in Hawaii...for years. Jason Segler, Born and raised in the mainland has traveled extensively in pursuit of his sound and musical direction until he moved to Hawaii years ago. Clearly with this much wealth of world experience the sound of evasive species is unique, and the bands love of Hawaii is what brings it all together.
