its all happening so quickly and im just waiting for that moment to breathe. oneday at a time, slow and steady and making all things right.
...for the past year i have been hard at work putting several adventures together to bring to the masses. in due time my efforts will see the light of day. believe you me, the new record has been more taxing on body and soul than i ever imgagined but it is equally matched by my overwhelming need to be honest and deliver art that we all can relate to and call upon as our backdrop to love, struggle and growth.
i've moved, i've lived, and i hope that all of what i am comes through in my debut record for newline/scrathie records, tentatively titled TROUBLES. its all about us, our loves, our loses and our hopes.
...if all goes as planned you'll be hearing the works by early summer 08'.

Me (Brandon "EUGENE" Owens)
Eugene aka Brandon Owens, lead singer and songwriter of eugene, moved from Los Angeles to New York at the age of 18. He spent the better part of the past four years touring and recording as a bassist with the elite of the jazz and pop world, such as Lauryn Hill and Terence Blanchard. In Summer 2004 he picked up an acoustic guitar, learned to use a four-track recorder and started to write his own songs.
After years of playing music but never writing his own material, Eugenes songs just started pouring out, with over 40 songs captured on four-track in only a few months time. Though the recording process was painstakingly primitive, what has come out on these recordings is refreshingly honest songs that have a tremendous range, a warm immediacy and a real pop sensibility that is very different from the other sounds currently coming out of New York.
In Fall 2004, eugene began playing local venues, in both LA and NYC, to audiences of friends. An undeniable presence, his statement in show and song is both relevant and timelessly cool.
