Erik Pearson has been a key player in the San Francisco music scene since 1990. His gritty and orchestral guitar style and composer's touch has shaped the sounds of recordings by bands including Mushroom, University of Errors (with Daevid Allen of Gong), Sonya Hunter, Alice Bierhorst, , Irene Sazer, Pat Thomas, Nearly Beloved, and Billy Talbot, . He plays banjo with old time mavericks The Crooked Jades and accompanies internationally renowned storyteller Diane Ferlatte on banjo and guitar. Together Pearson and Ferlatte have performed at schools, libraries, and festivals around the country including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, and The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In 1996 Pearson released his own solo recording, Water, which incorporates many of his frequent collaborators and features his talents as a songwriter, composer and arranger.
Pearson studied music composition at Oberlin Conservatory. He has received awards and commissions for chamber music compositions that have been performed around the US, and has been praised in local press for scores and soundscapes written for San Francisco and New York choreographers. In addition, He is currently a member of the teaching faculty at the Community Music Center in San Francisco.
Pretty sure we saw you with the Crooked Jades at HSBG a few years back...am I right? BTW, the song is now posted on my 'space page...my husband likes it, too! Let's hear it for Bay Area Banjers!
Your music sounds great. And it's always great playing with you. Hopefully those winds will turn around, we'll get OB on a nice day, and watch a cool f-ing sunset. PS Does my wetsuit make me look fat?
And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers,
But all that lives is born to die.
And so I say to you that nothing really matters,
And all you do is stand and cry
Hi Erik!
Its not a bucket without the love...where's the love?!? Hey, I'd like to get up there and play, are there any good venues left?
Hope you're well, my talented friend!

I'm not a prophet
or a stone age man
Just a mortal
with the potential of a superman
I'm living on
I'm tethered to the logic
of Homo Sapien
Can't take my eyes
from the great salvation
Of bullshit faith
If I don't explain what you ought to know
You can tell me all about it
On, the next Bardo
I'm sinking in the quicksand
of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore
Correction, you've been a key player in the Bay Area since summer of 1989....err....at least _I_ think we were key, and and largely because of your songs..........
