Sounds Like
SOMETIMES improvisational jazz viola or violin with world or ethnic overtones;
SOMETIMES ambient/meditative improvisations with Asian and western strings together;
SOMETIMES old-school Hawaiian songs with 'ukulele and paniolo fiddle;
SOMETIMES...it's different!

To the Hula-Dancing Maiden
I'm a musician and singer, with a very eclectic background, and I'm usually known as Eric (or Erik) Golub, but also somewhere and somewhen as Q Norman (Kyu Nohman), or Gao Yuefeng....
I've lived, played jazz violin and/or viola, and studied and performed Asian musics in Hawaii, Japan and China, and I've played concerts in a few other countries. I've long been attracted to, and involved with, the music of still other countries as well.....My string improvisations have been featured on other people's albums since 1978, and I've released one solo CD so far called "Pluck!"......I'm in the process of recording 2 completely different new CDs (one folk/Hawaiian featuring vocals and ukulele, one ethnic/ambient featuring Asian strings)......I play viola in the band with a really fresh singer/songwriter, Vanessa Van Spall. Check out the new CD, "Cotton-Poly Blend"! In addition to vanessavanspall.com, it's now available on iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon.com.
.......I've been playing my blend of Serbian gypsy and modern jazz violin and viola with Larry Vuckovich's Blue Balkan Ensemble since its inception in 1980........I'm also working solo or with a group as a Hawaiian performer on vocals, ukulele and 'slack-key fiddle.' And even though I spent years in Hawaii, and consider myself a "displaced kama'aina,'" I learned Hawaiian music and began singing it professionally here in San Francisco (visit my Hawaiian music site Alika, da Manoa boy!) .............BLOG ME at EricLectic's GolubLog, and check out all the videos below and at Slim's documentary site: Open Mic Documentary,

ERIC!!! How are you my friend? Life is great here in Houston (it is nice when you are certain that you are in the middle of God's plan) but I do miss Cali. I am going to take piano lessons. I thought that you would find that interesting. I hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Eric! Thanks for the add. It has been fun listening to your music - sounds great! I love being in a regular musical act, but like you, I enjoy sitting in with different people and seeing what will happen. Maybe we'll jam at an open mic somewhere down the road.
Aloha Eric, Wanted to wish you a early Mele Kalikimaka! Diggs and I are thinking of you and just wanted you to know. I heard you had a gig tonight, I hope it was awesome! See you next year :0)
I was just thinking about you and it brought a smile to my face. I think it is a shame that we didn't get to spend more time together but just know that I consider you a very special friend. I may have not known you long or even known you well but I have a strong appreciation for you. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas. May God shower you with blessings my friend. I just thought you should know that you are special to me.

I will use it is my last Sunday excuse and I really really want Eric to play with us. sounds silly but it has strong possibility of working. it will be more like begging than manipulative though because I hate manipulation. See ya at church!
Just wanted to tell ya before I went to sleep that I had a blast tonight and you rocked the house!!! You are so talented and I feel very blessed by your friendship. I wish we would have had more time over the last year before the Lord called me elsewhere. You are very precious to me though...don't ever forget that :0)
