Influences
"Dream Pop."
A love for deep grooves anchors entheos while they dress their songs with shimmering acoustic pop hooks. Tight melodic vocal harmonies evoke the popular Greenwich Village sounds of the 1960's, while indie rock and Britpop inform their music. entheos claims influences as diverse as Doves, Muse, Massive Attack, Air, 311, and the Beatles.
Dream Pop best describes their actual musical niche, earning entheos superlative comparisons to Mazzy Star and Everything but the Girl.

entheos came into being in 2001. What began as a brother and sister singer-songwriter duo, is now a full electronica band. Growing up in a musical family, siblings Alison and Carl Shepard had been singing together since they were kids. The very first band Alison and Carl were a part of was a cover band called the Rockefellers, a 5 piece band with Carl on vocals and bass, and Alison on vocals and keyboard. Playing with the talented guitar players, Gary Ruble and Jay Phillips (cousins), it was here that Alison and Carl first gained the confidence and inspiration to begin writing original music. They wrote their first song together when Carl was 15. After more than 4 years with Gary and Jay in the Rockefellers, Alison and Carl moved on to form entheos.
They began playing acoustic shows in coffee shops and art galleries, writing more music, and hatching dreams of recording an album.
Then in 2002 entheos met producer, Paul J. Falk and started working on ideas for recording their first e.p. After Alison completed grad school and Carl completed his studies at the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH, the first self-titled entheos e.p. was released in 2004. Working with Falk helped lay the groundwork for entheos moving into the world electronica. Still rooted in their singer-songwriter beginnings, entheos kept their love for catchy melodies, and was now morphing the song structures into trip-hop rhythms. In 2005, Alison and Carl met drummer, Justin Webb, who has added an important energy, and passionate level of musicianship to the band.

Hey Entheos, Your beauty is equal to the smoothness of a polished gem. Your tears evoke a taste as memorable as honey. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. Your wonderfully bright soul keep the demons from torturing me. Blinking reveals the true visage of beauty hidden within your eyes. You turn the atmosphere ablaze with currents of sweet ethylene when you smile. What wonderful vibrations you are capable of. All my thoughts are lost to your graceful gaze? Your eyes are like spheres of crystal water filled with shimmering dreams. Entranced by the sweet harmony of your lips, I gaze beyond reason to find the oasis of your brilliant soul. May you always have stables of horses to service your needs. The skin I shed is a perfume that makes water bubbles so terribly clear to me. As the bliss slowly rises in my incandescent eluxulator, your mere presence has a euphoric effect upon me.
