“CHILDREN SING AND CELEBRATE AROUND THE WORLD ”

Ages 0 - 100! Children will learn about the great variety of ways that people sing and celebrate around the world! Participants will sing folk songs from America around the world

and play djembes, shakeres, balaphon, ie percussion instruments from America, Africa, China, Latin America, and Native America. They will explore the these five elements of music rhythm,

tempo, timbre, dynamics and melody as they sing and make music from all corners of the Earth!

WORLD DANCE PARTY!

Ages 6- 12 or younger with a caregiver, a good family night activity!

Don your sombrero and gather your sticks for this hour long whirlwind tour of Ghana, India, Mexico and Native America! Participants will sashay and swing twirl and tap their way through three continents as they learn traditional dances and wear traditional clothing to match!

"Sing Me a Story, Read Me a Song!" (An NY and Queens Public Library and school favorite)

Children ages 0 - 5 and their caregivers will dive into the wonderful world of picture books by singing and exercising their physical, social and emotional and intellectual minds as they use music to increase their alphabetic knowledge, initial letter sound knowledge, rhyming abilities, print awareness pre­reading skills.Participants will: dance, march, stomp, skip, hop, bend, stretch, sway, clap, tap, sing a song and bang a gong and use props like scarves, parachutes, streamers, balls, to explore movement and space. They will shake and strike bells, shakers, drums and all the traditional children’s percussion and explore sound and rhythms, timbre, volume, pitch, and tempo sing a great variety of traditional early childhood and nursery rhyme songs and begin and end each class with the same “hello” and “goodbye” songs.



“I Hear America Singing!”

Ages 0 - 10 with/without caregivers

Children will learn American history through music and dance by creating a living timeline of songs and stories dressed as their favorite American Heroes. Participants will sing, march, stomp, etc. and play rhythm instruments to a variety of Native American, patriotic, gospel, folk, freedom, and peace tunes from the traditional repertoire of American music.

They will dance a Traditional Native American social dance, and an American square dance.

They will play authentic musical instruments that from immigrant cultures brought to America like the accordion, fiddle, guitar, uke, djembe, etc.





AAKWAABA, HU JAMBO, AFRICA HURRAH!

Take a music and dance Pan African Safari through the rich and varied continent of Africa with Mama Ellison. Learn real dances, sing African songs and play beautiful hand made instruments from all corners of the continent. Wear beautiful clothing and celebrate the culture of our cradle of civilization. "Please Touch" Mini Museum of African masks, textiles and art included.

Additional add ons: ( one hour program)

1. Make and Take African Animal Masks for up to 30 people ages 4- 100, $150.00 materials included, everyone takes home a collaged African Animal Mask made from observation.

2. Make and take African Kente Weavings from Ghana for up to 30 people, ages 10 - adult or younger with adult assistance. $200.00 materials included. Everyone takes home an African Kente sample in a frame to hang at home.

“STOMP!” all materials included, 2 Hour program, kids take home instruments.

Ages 8 - 12

Based on the long running Off Broadway STOMP phenom, Children will build a percussion ensemble from found and used everyday objects compose and perform original pieces.Participants will study percussion from around the world

gather, design, adapt and build various original percussion instruments to

create rhythms and compose orchestrations involving the use of percussion instruments. They will explore the following elements of music and dance: rhythm, beat, melody, harmony, timbre,

genre, feeling, choreography, form, function, space, dynamics, tempo, improvisation

and learn traditional orchestral practices, notation, and jargon.

GUNG HAY FAT CHOY! Bang a Gong, Dance Along Chinese New Year

Celebrate Chinese New Year with real Chinese Lion Dancing, ribbon dancing, instrument play and Chinese Kung Fu. Play authentic instruments and wear beautiful clothing for this special Chinese New Year Celebration! Learn real Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi forms you can practice at home. "Please Touch" mini museum of Chinese Culture included.

Make and Take Chinese Watercolor Painting for up to 30 people: $150.00 materials included, everyone takes home a special Chinese New Year Banner.
