She doesn't have a single photograph
She just has to go on instinct alone
When it cuts too deep and the rain is pouring down
Where is it calling you? where is calling you?
and do you let it through?
One photograph
To remind me
A memory always inside me
One photograph
Of the aftermath
Can't you see
You could kill the lonely
At times I feel like I am running so blindly...
When no one can help you
With the answers that you seek
When you're feeling weak
And the pain is all around
Where is it calling you? where is it calling you?
and do you let it through?
One photograph
To remind me
A memory always inside me
One photograph
Of the aftermath
Can't you see
You could kill...
You could kill the lonely
So who is killing your lonely
Your one and only,
Killing the lonely...
When your love is like honey
It just sticks to me
It just sticks to me...
One.....
One photograph
To remind me
A memory always inside me
One photograph
of the aftermath
of what became of me
One photograph
To remind me
A memory always inside me
One photograph
Of the aftermath
Can't you see
You could kill the lonely
Episode 39: "Break My Heart Slowly" Live @ the Mint
Break My Heart Slowly
Nothing is everything like the words you said
They're like a vision etched in my head.
I never realized I made it easy to pretend..
Everything I never knew I wanted was driving me...
Into the great unknown, Oh I know this may be a lonely road,
Or can it be that easy?
When nothing's as easy you think
How do you break my heart so slowly...
With yours so lonely you can't see?
How do you make me feel so completely?
And how do I heal this heart...from loving you
Nothing's impossible in a moment you said,
but in reality, silence sets in
I realize now I made it easy to pretend
Everything, I thought I knew I wanted was driving me
Into the great unknown,
Oh I know this may be my only hope,
Or can it be that easy?
When nothing's as easy you think
How do you break my heart so slowly...
With yours so lonely you can't see?
How do you make me feel so completely?
And how do I heal this heart...from loving you
Do I heal? Will I heal this heart?
Will I heal? Do you hear my heart?
Cause if I leave, then I'm just like everyone else...
You ever pushed away...
How do you break my heart so slowly...
With yours so lonely you can't see?
How do you make me feel so completely?
And how do I heal this heart...from loving you
How do you break my heart so slowly...
With yours so lonely you can't see?
When you make me feel so completely...
And how do I heal this heart...
Episode 28: "Loving You is Such a DrAg!" Live @ The Key Club
Loving You is Such a Drag!
Another...
Night I am...
Sitting here alone with you
The fire's still burning
But we don't know what we're gonna do
I wanna break the wall in two...
Are you hiding, deciding
As we sit here and contemplate
I want to break the wall in two
I wanna break it in two...
Cause loving you is such a drag...
When you don't need anyone
Don't you feel like you could have...
Love in the midnight sun
Or can't you stand...
How bright the light shines,
How bright the light shines
Are you angry and unhappy?
Can't be the one to help you now...
I want to break the wall into...
Am I mistaken and shaken?
I've got to trust what I feel now...
I want to break the wall in two
I wanna break it in two...
(Cause there is nothing left to do)
Cause loving you is such a drag...
When you don't need anyone
Don't you feel like you could have...
Love in the midnight sun
Or can't you stand...
How bright the light shines,
How bright the light shines
You've got to lead by example...
You gotta give to receive
When you wanted more...
Than you thought was ever in store
But your shallow words that deceive
So, why don't you just do something?
Why don't you just do something?
Illusive, reclusive...
You're here and then you run....
Cause loving you is such a drag...
When you don't need anyone
Don't you feel like you could have...
Love in the midnight sun
Cause loving you is such a drag...
When you don't need anyone
Don't you feel like you could have...
Love in the midnight sun
Or can't you see...
How bright your light shines
How bright your light shines
How bright your light shines

Complex, Bold and Beautiful...
There is nothing contrived about Elyse Haren. Possessing a sensitivity and an unbridled rocker passion, she grabs you with the sheer power of her voice but keeps you with her intimacy and honesty. With a primal sort of allure reminiscent of Chrissie Hynes, she creates unforgettable melodies with an intelligent lyrical sensibility, based on real life experience.
Elyse, severely asthmatic as a child, was encouraged to sing to develop her lungs, but she credits listening to "We are the World" as a youngster as the place where she discovered the power of a song.
In college she majored in music and theatre, singing everything from Opera to Musical Theatre, but it was shortly before graduation where Elyse's life changed at a Fleetwood Mac concert. As she looked back from the third row at the crowd, she was engulfed by the free flowing energy of the band, the music and the audience. In that moment, Elyse could not ignore her own the musical voice.
Elyse took like a fish to writing her own songs. Playing guitar, she allowed her to release her most uncensored thoughts and feelings. She taught herself recording, piano and a little bass and recording dozens of song "demos" in and out of her apartment in Los Angeles, eventually attracting the attention of investors to contribute to first full length album.
During the summer 2007, Elyse met guitarist Greg Pajer, bass player/songwriter Andrew James and drummer, Blake "The Pulse" Paulson. The foursome bonded immediately, encouraging her to play piano live (not only guitar), and inspiring Elyse to write new even better songs. Together they have an absolutely unbeatable work ethic and one vision of rock.

Unwilling to settle for anyone but a "hands on" producer, in the Fall of 2007, Elyse set out to find the one who believed in her and the music enough to give the album the attention it deserved. Ironically, she already knew him. Trusted friend and producer, Brett Chassen, listened to her new demos and in turn for his business partner, Bob Kulick, (Meatloaf, KISS, Motorhead etc...). Energized by their straight-forward brutal honesty, attention to detail, and can-do, no-bull attitude, they set out to make the best album possible.
With the addition of the incredible Tim Myers (formerly of One Republic) featured on piano (Break My Heart Slowly, One Photograph, Victim of Anything) and mastered by the amazing, Dave Collins (Linkin Park, Weezer, Soundgarden), Elyse just released in August. "Shut UP and Listen!" Elyse's debut album is NOW AVAILABLE for download at all digital retailers including iTunes, CDBaby, Rhapsody and coming soon to Amazon.
What Elyse is accomplishing is nothing short of remarkable; creating a major label quality music with no manager or label.
The morning the album hit iTunes, Elyse was in already in a meeting with the incomparable Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Chris Isaak, Green Day) to remix the album along with a new song set to be re-released this Fall. The original "Shut UP and Listen! will be taken down off iTunes and other digital retailers in the next two months!
