About me:
Hola a todos. Mi nombre es Miguel Angel Meléndez. Soy un cayeyano residiendo actualmente en Carolina, Puerto Rico. Soy locutor de radio. Mis inicios en la radio se remontan al 1980 cuando fui escogido para ser discjockey por un día en la emisora Salsoul. Fue una experiencia excitante bajo la dirección del muy conocido locutor Marianito Artau. Recuerdo que una de mis alocuciones fue la siguiente: "Salsoul 98 encendiendo tu disco party en estereo, mi pana que gufeo con el conjunto La Perla tremenda salsa qué te pasa." Desde entonces, no he podido desprenderme, la radio ha sido para mi como una droga, pero una droga maravillosa. He trabajado en emisoras como la desaparecida Radio Musical 97.7 fm la que considero mi escuelita una emisora exclusivamente de salsa mi género musical favorito, ahí me di a conocer por el seudónimo de "El Sha Boricua". Luego laboré en Q 97 emisora de baladas.Trabajé una breve temporada en La X fm. Luego en emisoras cristianas tales como Radio Maranata, Radio Emanuel ambas en Juncos y en Redentor 104 en Río Piedras. En Notiuno 630 laboré como locutor de noticias y actualmente estoy como dj en Victoria 840 en Humacao y en Radio Isla 1320 am donde soy moderador del programa para desvelados "Pégala en la madrugada", que sale al aire de lunes a sábado ahora en su nuevo horario de 12:OO a 2:00 am. THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN MY LIFE was when I visit for fisrt time the radio station Salsoul ninety-eight fm in Caguas city. I remember exactly that day, it was Wednesday, month: September, year: 1980. The purpose of my visit was to recorded my voice. Weeks before, I sended a letter to participate in a radio contest promoted by the station. The prize was to be disc jockey for a day, and fortunately for me, thanks God I was selected. The expectind day come, that Wednesday I go to the radio station and there receive me the famous radio announcer Marianito Artau official voice of the radio station in that moment. In that's days the radio station transmitted using an automatic system and the voices of disc jockeys and all music was recorded. So, I was there to record my voice because I would be on air at Saturday from three to seven o'clock pm. Everything that I say I anoted in a notebook and Marianito told me the manner to express correctly and natural by enjoying every word. So, I did it that way and one of my expressions was the following: "Salsoul ninety-eight setting on fire your disco party on stereo, my partner what exciting, now with the conjunto La Perla, great salsa, que te pasa". There were over twenty phrases and each one recorded on the old radio cartridge, obsolete now in modern radio. Marianito recorded my voice without music. As soon come Saturday, I was tuning to the radio all day waiting for three o'clock pm to hear my dj phrases now mixed with the salsa music themes. I was so excited that everybody in my neighborhood at Bonneville in Caguas city knowed of my first experience in radio. I had a very nice and good experience that day, and this had a great impression on me, however I confonted several difficulties to got an opportunity working in radio, but now I turn back and think that one of the possitive exciting habits human can have is perseverance to may real ours dreams.
