About me:
Visit www.redviolin.net for more information Since her notable debut with the New York String Orchestra at Lincoln Center, violin virtuoso, Elizabeth Pitcairn, has earned a celebrated reputation as one of America’s most important rising soloists.
Born in 1973 into a musical family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Pitcairn began the violin at age three and performed her first concerto with orchestra at 14. Her path brought her to Los Angeles to study with renowned violin teacher Robert Lipsett at the USC Thornton School of Music. Shortly thereafter, she appeared as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra as the grand prize competition winner and was invited to attend the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival in the summers of 1997 and 1998. She has performed the Brahms Concerto with classical legend, Mehli Mehta.
Pitcairn's upcoming 2007-2008 season engagements will feature a Carnegie Hall recital debut. She will also make her debut with the Marin Symphony in November conducted by Alasdair Neale performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, and return to play the Mozart Concerto in G Major with Carlo Ponti conducting the San Bernardino Symphony. Last season she debuted with the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, and made her recital debut on the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society Series.
The signature artist performs in partnership with one of the world’s most legendary instruments, the Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius of 1720, said to have inspired the film The Red Violin. Pitcairn champions the new works of the violin repertoire; she introduced the Red Violin Chaconne to a Southern California audience of five thousand. A new violin concerto, written for Pitcairn by Sweden's leading composer, Tommie Haglund, was broadcast througout Sweden to tremendous critical acclaim. The world premiere of the concerto was given by Pitcairn and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra in September 2005.
Pitcairn is very dedicated to bringing the joy of great music to young people. She joined the faculty at the USC Thornton School of Music and the Colburn School of Performing Arts in 1999 where she is assistant to international pedagogue Robert Lipsett. She performs in schools for young students, and gives masterclasses in Universities for music majors, speaking to them about a career in music. She was invited to appear on a Merv Griffin Lifetime TV reality series and to record the theme to a film by Sirocco Media. Pitcairn and was seen on CNN, Fox News, Yahoo, and CNBC demonstarting the attributes of the Hammer Stradivarius for the international press at Christie’s NY She gave live radio broadcasts at the Montreal Chamber Music Festival, and live TV interviews on CTV, Radio Canada and Global Quebec. She also perfomed on the New York Public Radio Station WNYC in an interview with John Schaefer and was interviewd on NPR. Pitcairn performed a live recital on K-Mozart, KUSC and the WRTI program "Crossover".
Pitcairn's unique style combines her favorite classical masterworks with the old world charm of Hollywood entertainers. Pitcairn is particularly inspired by legendary singer Judy Garland and Jackie Gleason. She has performed for charity events nationwide such as Classical Action for AIDS/Broadway Cares and the Sir Peter and Lady Michael Foundation for Cancer Research.

Her discography includes recordings of Tchaikovsky and Mozart Concerti with the Sofia Orchestra and Slovenia Radio Television Orchestras. An upcoming CD for December release will feature violin concert pieces from around the world. For more information, visit her website at www.redviolin.net.

Thanks for the add pretty lady, save a date for future poetry performances or surprise gigs
at local coffee houses. And I leave you with this question,,,

the question

its not that
such things
go on unnoticed
forever unmentioned
with the label of "clever"
never my forte'
the mystery remains
just how do you tell
the beautiful,
they are?
