Pimp My Profile | | Movies | Glory Roads: The Legacy of the African-American Motorcyclist. With help from Moto Journalist: Mike Seate and Photographer: Martin Dixon, the viewer meets club members from the Buffalo Soldiers, the Chosen Few, Sin City Disciples, the Wheels of Soul, the Black Divas on Wheels and many other clubs, to learn of the sport from their perspective. Scenes from Second Street during Daytona Bike Week and from the National Roundup help to fill in the picture, as do interviews with drag racer Ricky Gadson, the “Jackie Robinson of motorcycles” and Ann Ferrar who recounts the life of Bessie Stringfield, the remarkable black woman who broke down barriers for women and African-Americans with her cross-country gypsy tours in the 1940s.
Biker Boyz, The 2003 film about a predominantly African-American group of underground motorcycle racers. In the world of underground motorcycle clubs, the undefeated racer known as Smoke (Laurence Fishburne) is the undisputed "King of Cali." But Smoke's dominance of the set is about to be threatened by a young motorcycle racing prodigy called Kid (Derek Luke), who is determined to win Smoke's helmet and earn the coveted title.
The real "King Of Cali" made a cameo appearance in the film, in the bikini wash scene. Actual motorcycle clubs were also onset as Technical Advisors, and performed some of the stunts. | | Books | Soul On Bikes,

These are a just few of our heroes, simply because in some form or fashion they have made a difference in our chosen sport, hobby, etc. and not only have they made a difference, they have helped to pave the way for African American Motorcyclist today, but they are not our only heroes, let us not forget the thousands of Old School motorcycle clubs who have as well contributed to our history, having the most influence on the growth of motorcycle clubs today. We salute these heroes and forever will love and appreciate them for thier years of sacrifice, hard work and triumph. They all have made a significant impact on our lives. Much Love! |
