About LEFTFIELD DISCO: Leftfield Disco is a sub-genre in the dance music of the 21st century that is associated with renewed interest in disco made in the 1970s. By the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, the moniker was used by record shops and is often associated with edits or re-edits. It is used most often in association with European dance music producers who make music inspired by American disco, electro and other genres popular in the late 70s and early 80s but it is also used to describe several American labels that were previously associated with the subgenres electroclash and deep house.
Leftfield is used as a qualifier to disassociate the sub-genre from popular ideas about the disco genre.
