Rob's Interests
|
| General | Anything for a thrill. Music and concerts, travelling, photography, physical fitness, the martial arts, pleasure flying, sport shooting, camping and hiking, storm chasing, and meeting new friends. | | Music | I like a little bit of everything, and it shows in my schizophrenic iPod mix. I respect anything that is created and performed from the heart and soul of a true artist. Of course, that leaves out most of the generic, commercial pop music on the radio today. Mostly I listen to Classic Rock and Texas Country music, but it's not uncommon to catch me listening to classical, metal, alternative, Motown or jazz either. About the only things I just don't care for are Techno, dance, and religious music. All-time favourite artists include Bachman Turner Overdrive,
The Beatles,
Blood Sweat & Tears,
Bob Dylan,
Bob Seger,
Boston,
Carly Simon,

.38 Special. | | Movies | I honestly don't watch many movies. I'm rarely that bored. But I do love the classic comedies, like the Monty Python, Cheech & Chong, Airplane, and Vacation movies. I love biographical pics like "Ray" , "Walk The Line", and "Patton". Last movie I saw was "Walk Hard" which was a comedy spoof of a biographic pic (Walk The Line), so that was a double win! Other all time favourites include "Forrest Gump", "Animal House", "Office Space" "Used Cars", "True Lies", "Sneakers", and "Dave". And, of course, "Moulin Rouge" was the greatest movie of all time, wasn't it, Tessa? :D | | Television | As a former professional news journalist, I am fanatical about the news, and I watch it for hours a day. But otherwise, I gave up being a slave to the boob tube many years ago. I used to love "MASH", "The Wonder Years" and "China Beach", and have every episode of each on tape. Beavis & Butthead too! And I still love old re-runs of COPS. | | Books | Only books that are historical or educational, like medical books or biographies. I have no use for fiction in my life. Life is for living, not reading. And the reality of my life is much more interesting than any book you will find. I prefer to devote my attention to my friends and family. | | Heroes | Those who dedicate their lives to making things better for others. People of integrity, who keep their word. Those who do the right thing simply because it is the right thing, even if it is not popular or rewarding. People who persevere through adversity. People who make us laugh and smile. Positive people. Unselfish people. People who make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good, like Lt. Dick Van De Geer, SO2 Mikey Monsoor, Capt. Travis Patriquin, and Maj. Meagan McClung. Rest in peace, you guys. I love and miss you. |

Rob's Blurbs |
About me:
After almost two full tours as an emergency nurse for the U.S. Army in Iraq, I am now home recovering from injuries I suffered there. I live near Dallas, Texas, where I grew up, attended college, and previously worked as a paramedic, police officer, and firefighter. Currently, my full time job is working through six hours of intensive physical therapy, five days a week, trying to get back into shape to return to duty and my men.
