Sounds Like
"... conjuring up every Technicolor angel and demon in my sizable collection of guitar LPs. With barely a breath between tunes, they ripped through instrumental versions of Stax hits, cranked up Buddy Holly numbers, a Buck Owens medley, an Ike Turner blues, Santo and Johnny... Incendiary soulful solos were passed back and forth like a bottle of Thunderbird. Sly bursts of chicken pickin punctuated speedy breaks. Mock steel-guitar bends were wrenched from regular guitar strings..."

From The Noise, this got top billing in this month/last month's live reviews: DUKE LEVINE – Atwood’s, Cambridge, MA 3/31/08 It’s the last night of Duke Levine’s Monday night residency at Atwood’s. It’s a night where a capacity crowd has gathered, shrugging off their responsibility to get a good early night’s for their job or classes, for tonight is about one thing and one thing only: amazing guitar. Duke Levine, of course is my undisputed heavy weight guitar champion of the world and he proves it once again tonight with contrasting beautifully plucked melodies with sizzling solos as brilliant and dazzling as fireworks on a midsummer’s sky. The night features some amazing moments, such as an instrumental versions of The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields” and Pink Floyd’s “Us and Them” as well as Duke Levine’s own tunes such as “Mansquito”. Club D’elf’s bassist and main conspirator, Mike Rivard sit in with Duke alongside Kevin Barry, an equally talented axeman picking away at the guitar and lap steel, but when they call in Peter Wolf from the bullpen to sit in and croon a few tunes. The roof is literally blown off the place. This night is over and I loved every minute of it.
