Jackson Browne, Andrew Peterson, Rich Mullins, Andy Gullahorn, Osenga, Sting, the Beatles, the Samples, Pete Bardolph, Kyle Olson, Chris Siebold, Mark Pageau, Darl Leman, Tom Wierenga, my lovely wife, Beth, and Gayle Knighton - my church choir director long, long ago.
Hey, my name's Doug and I'm the worship leader at Elmhurst CRC in Elmhurst Illinois. I also play guitar and/or bass with folks around town. I try to write songs that can be used for corporate worship but I also write some non-church, not specifically "christian" music; I've put a few demo tracks here, someday they'll sound better......I hope. You can find occasional ramblings at xanga.com/the_oddfather
About the songs:
Set Apart - written as a baptism response song. We've used the same 3 or 4 songs at ECRC for so long, we needed something new.
Israelites - The chorus is a paraphrase of a few verses in Exodus; the rest of the song talks about the Israelites, myself, and how we're sort of the same.
I Lift My Voice - We sing this at ECRC sometimes
