As I was saying before the break, as a life-long fan of all styles of music, I am currently knee-deep in black female vocalists - and I have a major weakness for **ALL THINGS NEW WAVE!**.
I have a special place for Portishead, Lene Lovich, The Dresden Dolls, Bauhaus, J.B. Lenoir, Ingrid Michaelson, Ute Lemper, Sisters Of Mercy, Marlene Dietrich, Maria Callas, Bjork, Kristin Hersh, Placebo, Tears for Fears, Aretha, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Big Maybelle, Marc Almond, most Astralwerks artists, 40s swing, anything on the Okeh or Chess label, Out Music and rare classic disco.
I have lived in Center City Philadelphia for some time. I love living in this city and I continue to find cool places to explore. As for watering holes, I am proud to call Tattooed Mom my home and I love to bop around the city and see what it offers.
My main hat is working for WXPN-FM in Philadelphia. Since 1988, I've produced Kids Corner, America's longest-running daily live call-in radio show for kids! Additonally, I host/produce Q'zine: a queer arts and culture magazine -- where I celebrate out music worldwide! To find out more about the shows, click the logos below.
Besides that, I write poetry, read often and talk (and listen) with a passion. The fact is, that my career places me in a very public position - however, quite frankly, when it comes to me - I am quite shy and quiet. When it all comes down to it, a simple night with good conversation is really what its all about. :)
