Before moving to the Bay Area (and now NYC), POLYWOG trained intensively at the School of American Ballet (NYC Ballet), North Carolina School of the Arts and the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and then UC Santa Barbara and the Juilliard School, completing a BA (cum laude) in Dance, Studio Art and Religious Studies. With a continually evolving performance style, she has learned and incorporated many aspects of production into projects-from choreography, light design, costuming and makeup, to sound selecting and mixing.
Over the years, POLYWOG has developed a colorful performance persona while crafting unique and innovative DJ sets that have earned her a variety of prestigious gigs, from 3 US rock tours
(Jane's Addiction, Lollapalooza, The Warped Tour) to headlining raves from Peru to the Philippines, to appearing in the film "Groove" and DJing for MTV's Sports & Music Festival (that included Ozzy Osbourne, Ludacris and Crystal Method). She has opened up for artists such as Lee Scratch Perry, Grand Wizard Theodore, Tricky, Beck, Devo, Primus and Spearhead. Often asked to describe her style, she answers that she plays according to the time of day or night, the venue and the energy of the place. Exposed to a wide variety of music growing up, POLYWOG has never chosen to limit her DJing to any one genre and in fact was one of the first SF DJs to mix in a truly eclectic genre melting fashion ("way" back in '91, '92, '93 when she and Dead Marilyn were holding a very stylish court in SF's Sound Factory VIP Room.
Her current interests involve scoring for film and remixing music, along with finishing up her debut album (READY NOW!!), mastered by Jonah Sharp, featuring songs co-created with her bay area favorites Tyler Stone, Frogger, Shranny and Ces One .
Contrary to what a google search produces,
POLYWOG is not married to Platypus and looks forward to finding her soulmate in the future.
