| General | Lashes that sting on colored girls tied up with blue satin sashes,
Wild brown girls tied up in warm strings,
Wild, wild white girls that melt into nose cream,
These are a few of my favorite things. | | Music | I consider Dan Deacon to be one of the most interesting musicans working today. I am fortunate to know him personally. Pink Floyd and King Crimson are excellent examples of bands I like to listen to. I also like various subgenres of Heavy Metal, and Classical music. I admire Britney Spears because I see her as the penultimate example of the type of pop music record companies have recently worked tirelessly to sell us. Those albums are well constructed and she is gorgeous. | | Movies | Richard Linklater inspires me. I condsider him to be the finest director to come out of the 1990s. Among other living filmmakers, I grately admire Woody Allen and Brian De Palma (I thought "Redacted" was very clever). I like lots of movies. Generally I think the art has declined over the last several decades. The seventies were a marvelous time. But I like some new films. I like horror films, and science fiction that borders on horror (think Cronenberg). I admire Stan Brakhage and a lot of other experimental filmmakers who's names escape me. I like French New Wave films. If it's dark in character and/or it's experimental I'll probably give it a chance. I'm in love with Winona Ryder, Marisa Tomei, and Asia Argento. They are all beautiful and very talented women. | | Television | I can't stand this medium. The pacing of it and the constrictions placed on it for the sake of commercials agonizes me. | | Books | I read far less than I should. I think most of the stuff written recently that book stores sell is junk. I like the old stuff. | | Heroes | Everyone I've mentioned above is a hero to me. I admire anyone who strives to advance a new idea or one that meets enormous opposition. |
