The Glam-Punk-Rock'n Roll Band That Wouldn't Die!
Detox Darlings stormed the NYC scene in 1996, after Spyder got the boot from local glamsters Young & Fabulous. Living well being the best revenge he quickly invited the gorgeous and talented JetSet Jenna from Young & Fab and cool guy drummer Detox Dave into the mix and booked Detox's first show before the band even had a bass player. Less than a month later they played that first gig, with new bassist Mar-Tay-Ni on board and back up babe Hollywood Holly performing Spyder originals like "Let's Rip", "Back To Hollywood" and "Talking 'Bout Rock'n Roll", "Zombie Doll" (a previous JetSet Jenna colaboration) and a few hasty but well chosen covers at the Lions Den in Greenwich Village. In the words of Lovemaker's Kriss Teen "There was nothing wrongs with that show." (Not exactly a rave, but we'll take it!)
12 years and 15 bandmates players later, after most other groups from the '96 NYC scene have broken up and the city's most legendary clubs (CBGB, Continental, Limelight) and debauched dives (Bellvue Bar, Siberia & Spiral) have closed, Detox Darlings are still rocking, writing, recording and performing with the passion for patent leather, lipstick and loud guitars that first brought them together.
And though time is not exactly on their side (Hey if the Rolling Stones, New York Dolls and AC/DC ain't giving up, why the Hell should we?) the Darlings' heels, hair and attitude are higher, the amps and bar tabs bigger and the battle cry to last call is louder than ever: NO SLEEP TIL DETOX!
