Originally de portables were founded as a kind of rock out outlet in 1996. Its a kind of motherband for lots of other projects. The current line up includes Wio, Jurgen Deblonde, Hans Gruyaert and Bertrand Lafontaine. To make it easy for everybody they often been put into the postrock section. Which is more or less accurate but seeing their wide palet of styles a bit a tunnelvision. The dynamics from live-concerts are not comparable with their albums. Their songs are often soft, melodramatic and full of pop-melodies while the concerts can be very hard. Humour is a fifth member of the band.
