Hey, just an update on our progress in getting metal bands in Ohio and the surrounding states to come together. We are at over 190 local bands and growing. People are leaving comments and participating in our band of the week blogs. We would like to officially thank the bands for showing some love for the music by helping us spread the word of BlackTie. We appreciate each and every one of you and thats why we are fighting so hard for your cause. We can promote other shows and anything else any other promoter can do but that's not our #1 concern. We are striving for an annual metal coalition, where all the bands come together and party together and get to know one another. You never know what another band can do for you. Don't burn bridges. The fact is that bands are coming to shows only if they play and leave when they are done, taking their crowd with them. I just want to know, how fuckn busy is their day that they cant stay and support each other. This is what is creating the animosity that surrounds the metal scene. Support other bands and they will support you. You all have the same mentality, that's why you play the music.
BAND OF THE WEEK Our band of the week blog is where we randomly pick a band from our list, play their song and make a blog about them. We go through the trouble, so you should at least show eachother that you are in this together. Every Sunday the band changes. This week is Ipekak and next week is anyone's guess. But we usually pick a band that is actually participating, hint hint. Thanx once more for reading my damn book.
Ok, first off, we are a nonprofit promoter. So we're not here to line our pockets. We are here just for the music and to help the metal bands in Ohio and the surrounding states by getting you all to work together and stop playing so many free shows. Bands get fucked by promoters making more money than the bands themselves. The problem is that a venue can get bands cheap because bands know that if they dont perform, they will just get another band to play cheaper. Bands need to stop competing with eachother and unite. We are here to help metal rise to its true potential. If we could unionize all of the bands in the eastern hemisphere, it would become a force greater than life and anyone involved would get the recognition they deserve. We could even throw a local woodstock if everything works out. There are so many metal bands out there that even major label companies can get them for next to nothing. People with metal blade still play at bars and have to have a 9-5. Dont waste your time trying to be #1 hoping you get spotted by a talent scout with roadrunner. All they can do for you is get you heard. But with myspace, you can get heard without them. As a single band, even those of you with a huge following and a label, its hard to be heard by the rest of the world. If we could all pull together, get to know eachother, and play some crazy shows, the rest of the world would take notice. The word of mouth would spread really fast if all the bands would come to one place to check in. like a home base (blacktiepromo). If there was a show in Cleveland, all the Cleveland bands could spread the word even if they weren't playing it because the favor would be returned when they play in another town by those home bands. Even if you are reading this and you are not a band, but you believe in something bigger, you can join us too and be part of the street team. See, I am up at midnight right now sending this to about 100 bands, so at le
