Throughout high school and college, I performed in many musicals and operas while training vocally in classical and opera. Wow, how things have changed! But I must say that the techniques that I learned from this vocal training has helped me immensely throughout my musical career.
After I graduated from college, I relocated to Nashville, TN for about a year and a half. The only real "live" performing I did was play guitar and sing on the sidewalk downtown with my brave roommate, or perform at an occasional "writer's night." There I learned so much about the music business (and how to survive on crackers and butter).
After I had established a few music business contacts, I knew I wanted to return to the Twin Cities because I knew that I would be most happy pursuing my dream amongst friends and family, so....I returned.
I first began my career in the Twin Cities singing back up vocals with local rock bands. As I began to make more contacts in the music business, I was fortunate to have many musical opportunities come my way. Being a seven year member of the legendary R&B/Soul band "Lights Out Committee" (which later became "Soul Tight Committee"), I received lots of exposure in the local club scene and refined my vocal style. I soon became a studio vocalist, singing on many CD's and advertising jingles, and was invited to appear as a guest singer on many stages. Some of the highlights of my musical career have been opening for Al Green at the Orpheum in Minneapolis, opening for "Tower of Power"and "The Suburbs" at First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis, and singing back up vocals for renowned blues artists "The Butanes," Frankie Lee, James Carr, King Floyd, Willie Walker, and for roots rockers "Tina and the B-Sides." I recorded my first CD in 1999 (self titled, "Deb Brown & Blonde Faith"), and was pleased to receive great reviews as well as radio and television airplay. The Minnesota Music Academy named my band as one of the best five new bands of '99, and me as one of the top five female vocalists for several years in a row. ..I am grateful, to say the least.
Presently I am close to finishing my second CD which will be titled "Beautiful Disaster." I continue to sing around the Twin Cities, both as a live and studio vocalist. I can't wait for what's next...xo

You've got a great voice, and I really like the songs that you've got posted here. Left Wet has a great groove, White Lie has such a memorabele and hummable melody! But I think that Human Barbie Doll get the nod as my fav - it's memorable, and the lyrics will put a smile on ANYONE'S face. ;^)
Please stop by sometime and let us know what you think of Postpunkpopfuncountryfunk. We'd love to hear from you!
