DEADLEE has garnered much press with his groundbreaking, genre-screwing approach, attracting cover stories in Gay City News and Choice magazines and feature stories in the Long Beach Press Telegram, Las Vegas Review Journal, Las Vegas Citybeat, Dallas Voice, Albuquerque Alibi, San Antonio Current, Frontiers, and DotNews Magazine. His involvement in the first ever regional tour of GLBT hip hop artists sparked mentions in the press from the New York Daily News, Rolling Stone, Wired Magazine, XXL Magazine, The Advocate, L.A. Weekly, Philadephia Gay News, Urb, Instinct, and Variety to name a few. He was interviewed not once but twice by CNN, once for the Paula Zahn Now show on homophobia and hip hop and the second time for CNN Entertainment for the launch of the HomoRevolution Tour 2007.DEADLEE WAS A GUEST on THE HOWARD STERN SHOW -where Howard promised a show down with 50 CENT on a future show! He appeared with fellow LGBT hip hop artists Tori Fixx and Foxxjazell on the Emmy-nominated Tyra Banks Show on April 13, 2007.
DEADLEE launched his career earlier this millennium. Initially his style was a blend of hip-hop and rap, with a thrash rock undercurrent, his lyrics tackled race, class, sex, and even police brutality. DEADLEE earned a position as a key player in music's latest underground movement, gay rap/hip hop. He went on to play a variety of music festivals including the Peace Out Festival (Homohop) in Oakland, Peace Out East in NYC, HomoAGoGo in Olympia, Washington, Los Angeles Latin Gay Pride festival, Toronto Pride in Canada, the San Francisco GLBT Pride Main Stage two years in a row and Outfests..s FUSION Festival.
Said Gay.com's Josh Tager: "Like many of his rap peers, Deadlee's albums are intense, writhing outbursts of anger. The notable distinction here is that when Deadlee bashes, he's bashing back. He is a vigilante for social justice, committed to confronting homophobia wherever he sees it."
DEADLEE has provided music for a variety of motion pictures including ..On the Downlow.. and ..Vengeance... He was also one of the 18 gay hip hop artists featured in the landmark documentary film on gays in hip hop called ..Pick up the Mic.. which was picked up by the LOGO network after making the festival circuit. Deadlee was also in a LOGO reality show called ..Hip Hop Homos.. and the video for his ..Good Soldier II.. song is played on both of the Channel..s music shows (New Now Next and The Click List). He has two CD..s, ..7 Deadlee Sins.. and ..Assault with a Deadlee Weapon.. under his belt.
He has performed in several movies including ..Vengeance.. and ..Dead Men Walking... and just completed his first starring role as LAZY in the upcoming film "SHARPIES" - release date Fall 2008!
DEADLEE also dabbles in stand up comedy and has appeared before stunned laughing audiences at the Ha Ha Cafe.., and various stand up comedy venues through out Los Angeles.
DEADLEE will release his 3rd CD a special release on CLYDE & CLYDE RECORDS called LIFE OF SIN. It will feature new music from Deadlee, Down Low, and QPid aka Yung Shortee. Special guests will include the UK's QBoy and Salvimex with Guest Production from T.Fixx, Smut Stud and DJ Pain 1
