CURRENT 93 was formed in 1982 by David Tibet, the beyond-gone-beyond Jhonn Balance and Fritz Haaman, and unfortunately released the 12" single LAShtAL, shortly before the first C93 album NATURE UNVEILED which was then swiftly followed by a DOGS BLOOD RISING. Scroll down through playing at Bar Maldoror IN MENSTRUAL NIGHT, presenting SWASTIKAS FOR NODDY as the EARTH COVERS EARTH, running like Hell from CHRIST AND THE PALE QUEENS MIGHTY IN SORROW, accessing the THUNDERPERFECTMIND and seeing THE SADNESS OF THINGS and THE INMOST LIGHT ITSELF after avoiding RUINE OR SOME BLAZING STARRE whilst living in a MUSICAL PUMPKIN COTTAGE, they and he recently released the new album BLACK SHIPS ATE THE SKY, which features David Tibet, Michael Cashmore, Ben Chasny, Steven Stapleton, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Marc Almond, Baby Dee, Antony, Clodagh Simonds, John Contreras, Pantaleimon, William Breeze, William Basinski, Shirley Collins, and Amy Phillips. It was followed by a split-CD by Current 93 and David's heroes OM, called BLACKSHIP SHRINEBUILDER (INERRANT RAYS OF INFALLIBLE SUN). A 2CD "best of" was recently released by Sanctuary both in the US and in the UK/EU titled JUDAS AS BLACK MOTH. David has now started work on the follow-up to BLACK SHIPS. Its ROOT is "ADM" and its INITIALS are "A.D.M.". We are hoping it will be ready towards the end of 2007 or early 2008. More information to follow on this and its sister and brother soon.
David has worked extensively with many people, perhaps most extensively of all with Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound, Michael Cashmore of Nature & Organisation, Joolie Wood, Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance and Maja Elliott.
David paints and draws Hallucinatory Patripassianist Dream Texts, landscapes and portraits of cats, spirit guides and Saints. He founded, and still runs, Durtro Press and Ghost Story Press, which have published around 40 or so books, mainly by Thomas Ligotti and Count Stenbock, but by many other authors too. Recently released was a new anthology by Thomas Ligotti entitled "Teatro Grottesco". The next book from Durtro is "Under The Rain And Teeth Of Gods", a long-overdue collection of David's lyrics and texts. He is also working on some Coptic translations he hopes to publish in 2008. At present a majority of the C93 back catalogue is out of print, but with David's friend Mark Logan of Durtro Jnana, all this material will steadily be released in 2008/9 apart from the recordings he hates. David will also carry on with his project of bringing everything Count Stanislaus Eric Stenbock wrote into print. he is also working on translation of Coptic Gnostic texts. He is in the International Cabinet of OTO and is working on his MA in Coptic Language, Texts and Grammar.
He lives 2 minutes walk from the seaside in Sussex, on the English South-Eastern coast, whilst he prepares to move to his houses in Moscow and Panar.

"It has never been more clear that David Tibet lives in a completely idiosyncratic sphere of his own. Perhaps this is true for everyone, but Tibet's world seems particularly out of step with current trends in music, culture and thought. There is something terribly admirable and beguiling about that. Current 93 is continuing in its tangential orbit, and exists solely as the outlet for Tibet's poetic musings on Christ, cats, children, dreams, piety, horror, death, dread, decay and apocalypse. This EP is designed to be a prologue to an upcoming full length, and it consists of nine tracks or "chapters" of a long poem called, appropriately, "Hypnagogue: A Dream Prologue." Like many of Current 93's, it's impossible to rate this album based on the music alone, which is mostly incidental. The main focus is on the poetry, and if the listener is not willing to carefully absorb Tibet's linguistic imagery, the point of the music is lost. The musical accompaniment is minimal: Maja Elliott's impressionistic, Debussy-esque piano is the sole instrument. There are times when the piano brilliantly punctuates a passage, and others where its complex swirl of sound competes with Tibet's intense delivery. Tibet is an impressive poet, his style remiscent of mystical and abstruse poets like T.S. Eliot, W.B. Yeats, and even Angus MacLise. There is no irony in Tibet's fatalistic prose, just a classic weaving of idiosyncratic metaphors that may or may not resonate, depending on the listener's willingness to listen and think about the complex symbolism. Like a true classical poet, Tibet even slips into Latin verse here and there. From the topiary bunny on the cover to the obscure magical glyph at the front of the text, Current 93 and David Tibet defiantly resist any easy categorization"
