My real, actual name is Terry David Silvercloud. I am not a native American or First Nations' person. I'm about as white as they get, gene-wise. Some people call me Cloud and some people call me Cloudy. Some people call me worse things but I'm a pretty nice guy when I'm not in one of my cranky old man moods.
I am a reclusive photographer, painter, writer, and cranky old man. I'm not on-line so it can be a space between my posting and/or responding to anything. I use the public library to access the net.
These days I spend most of my time painting. When I moved back to Vancouver, in 1997, it was with the intent of getting my painting up to gallery-speed. I got diverted by a few things, including writing and publishing a book, but the painting is coming along nicely and I hope to show works by the fall of 2008. For those who are unaware of my previous life, I have also done a lot of photography. My eyes don't focus, anymore, so I concentrate on my painting, instead. I always intended to be a painter and that was why I moved to Vancouver way back in 1970... life got in the way. I'm also, presently, working on corrections to the book... The Shape of God, now finally available to anyone who wants to purchase a copy. The present version still has a few typos, and a couple of minor errors, so think of it as the manuscript edition. I hope to have the updated and fully corrected version available through regular bookstores by the end of 2008. There are 2 basic concepts about reality, one is string theory, the other is quantum physics. I'm a string theorist because quantum theory provides no explanation for how matter is constructed (neither does string theory, but there is a way... read my book, The Shape of God).
This site will teach you about basic theoretical physics.
If you don't understand basic physics, please don't write to me with your theories. I'm no one in the world of physics and can not help you get your ideas out there. I have my own theory I'm pushing, thank you.
Who I'd like to meet: I'm not looking to meet anyone. If you are under 25 and living in Vancouver, really intent upon learning how to paint in oils, maybe give me a buzz. I can save you years of tears with a few tips and tricks.
Think about this... Everyone is going on, and on, and on about GLOBAL WARMING. When I was young and stupid, we called it GREENHOUSE EFFECT. The warning began in the 60's and people seem to be noticing, at last.
The thing is, the really tricky political bomb is that global warming is just a teensy symptom of yet worse things to come because the REAL PROBLEM, and has been since the 60's, is world population growth. It has doubled since the mid sixties from about 3 billion people to just over 6 billion, today.
We expect a 50% increase in the world's population by 2050. So a 50% reduction in every human's carbon footprint should keep us at about exactly the same level of pollution we are experiencing today. And we will need 50% more of everything. That should require a 50% increase in industrial productivity. Is anyone doing the math?
And I bet you haven't a clue about GLOBAL COOLING that's going on because of blockage of the sun's rays by jet contrails. Good thing, or the glaciers would already be gone... all of them.
Well, have a nice new year, everyone out there, and remember... we're all screwed if we keep on doing what we've always done.
