Influences
You might wanna hear me say....MY FAAAAAAATHERRRRR!
...But the order in which it all truly came to me, is as follows: Marvin Gaye, James "D-TRAIN" Williams, My Faaaaaaatherrrrr, Anita Baker, Alexander O'Neil, Luther, Baby-Face, Faith, and Joe (which is my favorite).
A few, unknowingly asked if Robert Kelly might have some influence on my style. R. Kelly?..an influence...Yes but No (lol)...when I first got into singing I was hate'n dude...(but in my mind, he was my competition)..but observation is key, and he is a number one type'a guy ..... 80% of the time after all. (But singing is the issue)...and I know he may not need any help writing or choose'n what songs to sing..(he's got that Mastered)...I am however, trying to get that guy one of these Platinum songs I wrote...hint-hint! AND/OR ...I'll be bringing some HEAT and he will respect my Pen and Mic skills regardless. PROMISE!

Sounds Like
Maybe a little bit of David Ruffin or Sam Cooke, but mostly, I really sound like, MYSELF
"ANYWHO!!!!" - YES-SIRRR!!!!" - "SAY WERD!!!!" AND THOSE ARE D-RUFF CLASSIC QUOTES.....
Some call me "D-RUFF", Some call me "BAMBAM" and some family still call me "Little David" (The tallest man in the Fam.....lol) 6 foot 3 and ¾ tall, 229lbs! But I can’t complain…..I think deeply about being fortunate enuff to be called at all. I have been many places and seen lotsa things. I have known and know thousands of people. Every race and creed! (for real doe….lol) I could say, if I was being cocky, (which some say I am…but, I am just “knowing”), I could say that I have a lot of friends. And in light of the amount of trust that our countries don’t have for one another these days, I am glad to say that I have friends in far places. As for how life is treating me? Well, letz just say, that I am blessed to be in the race. Runnin around, like I’m crazy, tryin to WIN!! (you too right?) Cant stop now…….”keep on truckin”, like my Uncle Eddie says. My Father and Eddie Kendrick where like twins…(for real doughx2). Sad that some offspring of the Legends, Stars, Entertainers, Politicians,….you know people of an apparent “Status” of sorts, don’t know nor had the opportunity to know their Fathers (Mothers too, I’m sure)…..
but I, DAVID RUFFIN JR. , was indeed blessed to know and love my Father. Lots of people ask….How was it to have him for a Father…..”whoa!!!..i’m thinking, when folkz ask me that. “it was cool, but not what’cha think” !!”Do you sing – do you sound like him”? But I respect and understand the expectations that have been placed upon me, but hopefully once they hear my voice on stage or in the studio it might become pleasantly obvious that I do my best to continue the RUFFIN Soul! I know, as the son of the late singer David Ruffin, the legendary former lead singer of the Temptations, that there will always be comparisons to my father’s greatness. While living up to such expectations would be a difficult task for some to handle, I, a native of Motown-Detroit have risen to the task more than a few times, and am always striving for improvement. Musically, creatively and mentally that is. Blessed with a first and second tenor and an equally powerful Baritone....I have had the opportunity to work with such stellar artists as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurpurt, Daz, Nate Dogg (A Smoooove tone having mopho), Sisquo and Jazz of DruHill, Roscoe, Benzino, Dave Cochran DCX-(Mr Sax Sex), VNMG (Platinum Production!!), Capone! As well as local Detroit talent such as T. BASS Green (Platinum Bass Lix for Dayz), G-Dokes, Proof (R.I.P. Lil bro), 2WiseMen (UnderGround Kingz), Dave Mays, Amir, Young Ruff (My knuckle-head, HOT ON THE MIC Nephew), The Boss and Diamond (Under-rated MC) And most resently on my NYC/JERSEY trip: Paul Ferg, Mike DeBarge, PM DWAN, CHRIS BREW, Super Producer, DEEZ and BLUFOX just to name drop a few.....lol. I have also performed with and opened for the legendary singing group, The Dramatics. As of 08, I have 15 songs ready and 22 independent recordings over the last four years, (twelve in the last 9 months) and came up with some new HEAT. I was hoping to go into joint production with Doc Ross of Hidden Beach's "UNWRAPPED", to do 5 new songs a by spring, but we'll see if he makes time for me....(he's real busy).
In the past years, highly touted music publications such as The Rolling Stone, The Source and Rap Pages have labeled me as "talented and is up-and-coming". However, perhaps my most thrilling moment in music came when I heard, a world wide, multi-platinum song, called... Gin & Juice. A Hip-Hop Classic now! A song that Dr. Dre, T-Green, Snoop, and I collaborated and recorded together. I recently relocated to Los Angeles in an attempt to get some recognition for my lastest creations. I credit my father, along with current soloist, Joe and 80s crooners, Alexander ONeal, James D-Train Williams, and the great Marvin Gaye as the major influences on my style of singing. However, I have crafted my own, unique vocal identity. I best describe my style of singing as........ Ruff in Risqu! R&B with a rough (Ruff) edge, on the rocks w/a twist.! In addition to singing, I was surprised to find some fun in acting as well. I was blessed to appear as a lead and sang in the national hit stage plays, "All Men Cant Be Dogs" (2004-05) and "P.M.S. - Power, Money and Sex" (2004). The entire production has received raved reviews for our collective work in the play. Also enjoy and always seeking voice over opportunities for animation and commercial projects. A solo CD project is what’s most important to me right now. I have pieced a new demonstration/production with Victor Grimlock Newman of H.I.P./Win-Win Production, with other. Such as, Jay-Fingers, DCX, MEECH on Skins in hopes of a first or second quarter 2008 debut, and am looking forward to music collaborations with a few of my favorites as well. If you have any Duet idea's, speak on it! "ALL MY LIFE-the EP"
has been released......YEAAAAA...."BLOODLINE" is next!!
A Detroit News Publication"Now of course you’d think David Jr grew up listening studiously to the hits that his father recorded with the Tempts, such as: My Girl, Aint too proud to beg, Beauty is only skin deep, Since I lost my baby, I wish it would rain and others. However, it was sports, not singing that caught David Jrs attention and occupied his time. After high school, David Jr began rapping. However, this genre, as his father exclaimed, was a trend. He recalled that his father didnt approve of David Jr being in the rap game, but instead encouraged him to work harder on his vocal chops for the R&B genre. David Jr listened to his pops advice .... Now David is well prepared to further elevate the Ruffin name in the entertainment world. As well as add to the history of not just urban music, but the history of music as a Whole......................."

Although you may be very small in contrast to the totality of our vast universe, KNOW that the tiny SPECK that represents you in this world shines as brightly and perfectly as any of the stars shining above us in the night sky. YOU SPARKLE! Yes you do!
It's not too late... the angel said. Even though the world's a mess... Even though you're not as young... Even though you've made mistakes and have been afraid It's not too late... And then I saw the world through the angels' eyes... I saw the colors I could paint The bridges I could build The lives that I could touch The dreams that could still come true And it became very clear to me... That it's not too late
Have you ever felt like you knew someone a long, long time ago? Another place, another time, a friendship of the souls? Two people who share a bond for reasons neither know, A feeling that they were friends, a long, long time ago?
Did they stumble onto each other by pure circumstance, Or was it fate and destiny that played a certain hand? Two souls intertwined, they are worlds apart, But the soul, it knows no difference, in matters of the heart.
Somehow they are drawn together, fate has brought them back, Each living worlds apart, they journey separate paths. When this life is over, and a new life begins, Their souls will find each other, two souls that we call friends....have a blessed sunday ,also a wonderful week, hugs and kisses ,peace, love, happiness my friend ............ur's mpbutterfly
Love starts with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear.
Don't cry over anyone who won't cry over you. Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget. You can only go as far as you push. Actions speak louder than words. The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love, love somebody else. Don't let the past hold you back; you're missing the good stuff. Life's short. If you don't look around once in a while, you might miss it. A best friend is like a four leaf clover: hard to find and lucky to have. If you think that the world means nothing, think again. You might mean the world to someone else. When it hurts to look back, and you're scared to look ahead, you can look beside you and your best friend will be there True friendship never ends. Friends are forever. Good friends are like stars....You don't always see them, but you know they are always there. Don't frown. You never know who is falling in love with your smile. What do you do when the only person who can make you stop crying is the person who made you cry? NOBODY IS PERFECT UNTIL YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM. (Isn't that the truth?) Everything is okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end. Most people walk in and out of you life. But only friends leave footprints in your heart
