David Morrison - singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, educator - is now living and working as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor of visually impaired students in Dubuque, Iowa. Live performance is suspended until the release of his solo album next year. The album is as yet untitled.
Recent musical associations include The Clydes and Jeromy Barber & David Morrison. He has lately played bass and drums on upcoming albums by Austin's The Able Sea and The Westerns. In the spring of 2008 he produced a demo recording for Nacogdoches' The Mustn'ts.
In 2006-7, he co-produced and performed extensively on the upcoming debut album from east Texas rocker Rocky Tippit, which will be released later this year on Red Boot Records, an affiliate of Your Texas Music.
Mr. Morrison has been performing as a solo act and in innumerable rock bands of unimpeachable obscurity since the early 1980's, mostly in Austin, Texas. Pseudonyms he has used include "Blanche" and "Darson Vidorim". As a solo act he has opened for John Cale, the Meat Puppets, Billy Bragg and many others.
His previous band associations include The Bigamy Sisters, Karl Masterson, Hop, the TerraPlanes, Scary Canary, Chimpanzees With Typewriters and many, many others. God, so many others.
Mr. Morrison, an occasional actor, has also produced and performed music for Austin theatrical productions, including the Texas School for the Blind's 2003 production of The Memorandum and, assisting Robert Pierson, the Rude Mechanicals' 300 Plays About Vladimir Putin (2004).
Mr. Morrison is not currently available for session, production or audio engineering work, except to his close friends.
