Since the mid 1990’s, Leatherwood has performed with literally dozens of stylistically diverse bands & artists, performing hundreds of gigs in venues ranging from dingy clubs to concert halls, outdoor festivals and amphitheaters. David has completed several national tours, opening for such acts as STING, DURAN DURAN, DEPECHE MODE, AEROSMITH & FUEL, and has even played several stints over seas, including a USO sponsored tour of US military bases in Bosnia, Kosovo and Iceland.....
Leatherwood has had experience as a band member performing & recording with such major label acts as: MACH FIVE (Island) & STAR 69 (Hollywood), such nationally distributed indie groups as PURACANE (Ubiquity), THE PATTI ROTHBERG BAND (Cropduster), & EVIL JAKE, and such renowned NYC bands as JOHNNIE FOREIGNER, CATWALK, SHIMMER, KEETASPEED, CHERRI REDD & THE FUJITIVES.....
As a solo artist, singer & songwriter, David achieved notoriety with his alternative-pop duo 2, whose debut single peaked at #12 on BillBoard’s A/C Chart. In support of the band’s debut, self-produced record (Albertine), Leatherwood performed at the SxSw Music Festival, appeared live on the nationally syndicated Joey Reynolds Show and recorded with legendary producer Tom Dowd at the Hit Factory in Miami.....
Between solo and band obligations, Leatherwood has also served as sideman for such diverse acts as: JOSH RUTT (folk/roots rock), ERIN HILL (psychedelic folk/pop), ROI (hard rock), ABBE RIVERS BAND (blues/rock), ERIN JIVIDEN (pop/rock), LNTG (hip-hop/rock), THE FIGHTING (nu-metal), PENELOPE LAWSON (pop), VIX JENSINE (new wave/goth), KI KI HAWKINS (R&B) and SUNSET WEST (pop/punk).....
Over the course of his musical career, David Leatherwood has traversed a variety of styles and genres. Approaching each project and every song distinctly, Leatherwood adapts his image, gear selection & playing technique accordingly. Incorporating past experiences as lead and background vocalist, bass player, lead & rhythm guitar player (both electric & acoustic), David has developed his own unique, progressive style, sound and vision.
